^ and ^^ what they said. You get pills every 3-4 hours as you said. You get attacks every 40ish minutes. Very annoying. If only they had made pills available as salvage, then I would play through again.

You get 4 pills every 4 hours. You hit a button when the screen turns yellow. Does it add anything to the game? Not really, but I didn't think it was annoying enough to stop playing. What WAS annoying was clearing out an outpost, driving out of sight, then driving back through the outpost a minute or two later and having to kill everyone again.
-
^ Oh yeah now that you mentioned it, I remember that as well. Would you prefer Far Cry original or Halo:CE?
-
To each their own. Crysis was fun for one playthrough for me, but played through Half-Life and Half-Life 2 twice, well never made it fully through Half-Life both times, lol. But did Half-Life 2 and all episodes twice so far. Very enjoyable. Been so long I might give it another playthrough. Really really really want Half-Life 3 though.
-
Probably the original Far Cry. If there were no Flood in Halo, it would probably get my vote. For me, Halo ceased to be interesting once the Flood showed up.

The source engine was state of the art when it was released. Crysis has a more modern graphics engine, but it's primarily better because it's newer technology. HL2 had better art design. The environments and setting are much more creative in HL2 than in Crysis.
As far as gunplay, I would also give it to HL2. The weapons are varied and interesting, and they all act very differently and cater towards creative use. The weapons in crysis are pretty much standard fare. The weapon handling in Crysis is pretty much exactly what you'd expect, and in HL2, anyone can see that they used their artistic license masterfully.
As far as replayability, you're almost certainly right. HL2 is an experience you go through probably once, though you might play some sections over again because they are epic.
Crysis is a sandbox, so the game is a little bit less structured. At the same time, I played through HL2 once through, and loved every minute of it, and I played some sections more than once.
When I played Crysis, I couldn't tolerate it to finish. That was my experience. And of course, we're free to have our own experiences, but I certainly got more game time / dollar out of HL2, and I'd also rate the quality of the time spent much higher with HL2. -
Half life 1 and 2 with Bioshock1 right beneath them as the best FPS overall.
Crysis is somewhere in the middle. It's a graphics demo with a so-so story thrown around it.
Halo is FPS for pre-schoolers. Basically a movie you sometimes get to pick where you look. (auto-aim-auto-win-auto-everything) -
OP, you have a strange way of spelling Half-Life 2 and Halo.
Bioshock better than Halo? damn that's a lot of fail. -
Halo was a GOOD FPS. It was not THAT GOOD. Shooting aliens with assault rifles against generic backdrop #928439 does not make a great game. It had virtually zero interesting mechanics or unique aspects.

Halo 1 didn't bring much that was brand new to the table, but it did take pretty much take all the good aspects of FPS games that had been made up to that point and put them in a single package with strong graphics for the time.
Subsequent Halo games were less interesting. -
Halo 1 lan parties in my University's dorms were some of the best times I've ever had with gaming
was always #1 or 2 on the charts
In FFA I would always pick a purple armor to distinguish myself from other players and people would gang up on me "Andoom" or "Captain" the other top player. -
It was a very polished and well made game. I still think it would have been much stronger without the flood. Best FPS ever? No. And 2 and 3 were varying degrees of bad.
-
Without the Flood, they would have had to come up with a new alien faction as a common antagonist to both playable races or change the story completely which might not have made that big an impact. Seeing how they had to stay away from having any likeness to existing space video games or universes, they did a fantastic job. Coming up with a title that lies in that category in today's (okay CE was not today but little has changed since then) day and age and yet have it become as popular as it did is not very easy.

have to go with half life on this one or orginal COD. gameplay is much smoother and more fun.
-
I think they could have come up with a much better enemy faction that didn't consist of HORDES of crappy little creatures that you just had to throw massive amounts of lead at. Entirely uninteresting.
-
Just played the tank level in crysis...amazing. The battlefield is SO BIG and open, and the options so many...no game comes close in that regard.
-
Do you have any that you fancy?
-
Alien races? Or FPSes?
-
If Black Mesa was ever released, that might make a difference.

Has that now officially been in development longer than Half-Life 2? -
Meh Starscream obviously never has had the joys of the gravity gun or the funky alien plasma rifle, the pheropods or the BFG version of the gravity gun on the last level of HL2.
Obliterates anything Crysis 1 and 2 had for sure. I think there was only 1 alien weapon? -
Best in terms of graphics and controls. I really like the middle button for suit and customizable weapons.
Story, definitely not -
Races. Do you have any ideas that differ from the flood and ALSO from other races out there. I mean the Flood came closest to the Borg but were still SIGNIFICANTLY different.

I've only played Crysis Warhead, but I liked STALKER a lot more.
Not sure if Arma2 is considered an fps, as you can switch to third person, but with the DayZ mod it blows away any other shooter I've ever played. -
Crysis was fun. I enjoyed the original far cry more though.

Some servers don't allow 3rd person. The DayZ mod is a very special thing that is going to start a new genre in gaming on the PC, but it's super early and really buggy still. -
Will have to check out this DayZ mod. Sounds pretty enticing. Looking for something new and challenging as BF3 is becoming long in the tooth for me.

the fact that there are no rules for human interaction makes every situation dangerous, and it's exciting. there are pros and cons to shooting people on sight as well as trying to help each other, and there is a lot of tension.

You really do feel a sense of desperation in day z.
