Ok, seems like Crysis is playing fairly well on my Vostro 1500 as spec'd in sig (8600m GT o/c'd) @ 1280x800, all high settings except shaders and shadows at low (still looks cool and fun game).

I downloaded the latest LV2G drivers (169.09) too.

I haven't played a whole lot but lighting seems a little screwy. With the gun mounted flashlight, it lights up a very wide area, instead of a distcinct forward cone, and can wash out things at times. Most noticeable at the beginning of the game in the first level.

Anyone know a way to correct this without compromising frame rates?

Did it do this with other drivers?

I'd like to see a screenshot of what you're talking about.

Turning volumetrics up will get rid of that but also impact your fps by several fps. Just tough through it, the performance loss is not worth a better looking flash light

That's interesting - I have the same issue here - I'm running on a T7500 and an 8600M-GT 256MB. Seems like it is not specific to your machine. At this time I do not think there is anything you can do about that unfortunately. There is a patch expected to come out shortly for Crysis so let's hope that fixes some of these issues.

Does the problem persist with shaders turned up? I know that having textures and shaders on different quality levels can cause all sorts of funky lighting problems, so that could be an issue.

Same problem here. Yeah, it's propably because of some lighting settings are set too low for this 'meant to played only with ultramegahyperfuture computers' -game. :) Well, the flashlight is useless anyway, so I don't mind.

I think you got it right - I remember seeing the exact same thing when playing with settings to get the nicest-looking playable rates. Pretty sure it was shaders - you'll notice in the opening video that the door-opening bit when light spills out is considerably less impressive as well. That's where I first twigged that having shaders on low might up the fps a little, but it was definitely not worth it with light effects like that one.

Seems like they shouldn't make it look *THAT* bad. That is just poor coding that if they have the option it just bleeds light everywhere.
