I know, this is old news. I just beat crysis 2 recently, and reinstalled crysis 1. And even in the first 5 min, I just realized how much better crysis 1 is. It's vastness, openness, freedom, versatility. The only thing I can think of that crysis 2 does better is the aliens in crysis 2 are more satisfying to fight than those in crysis 1.

I agree, I have replayed Crysis 1 several times, but I don't even feel like starting Crysis 2 again.

Too constrained, too linear, and the only thing I appreciated is how broken the armor mode is compared to one, because it was fun sometimes standing infront of enemy fire and lulz at them.

I've always felt like crysis had more comp-sci engineer types than artists. Or they have "pretty good" artists, matched with "very good" engineers.

Crysis 2 compounded that sense for me.

Basically, what you've got are a highly complex engine with a ton of special effects and GPU post processing on top of an average looking set, imo.

"Good graphics" is a very complicated subject. I think we can agree in the end that art design has more to do with it than effects. I think both games missed to some degree in that sense, but Crysis 2 missed hard. Crysis 1 was decent.

The first person view in Crysis 2 was better then Crysis 1, but other then that, Crysis 1 wins, flawless victory!

Wait WHAT?! LULZ. Controls are better in 2? Puhleeze. In Crysis and Warhead you can easily just middle mouse click and choose armour, power, invisible, speed, gun etc with so much more ease. I think the controls were horrible in 2.

The linear post-processing garbage is somewhat entertaining to look at and there is definitely some great textures to buildings that was absent in Crysis. however EVERYTHING was destructible, the vegetation was amazing and the multitude of ways to attack was unmatched compared to Crysis 2.

BOTTOM LINE: Crysis 2 was a beefed up Alien version of COD. Scripted, DX9 looking (even in dx11) and very consolized.....but those are just my eyes. Peace.

do you really prefer the wheel than pressing single buttons? i mean pressing shift and speeding past stuff is alot faster than pressing middle mouse button and scrolling to maximum speed lol.

I guess that's a good argument. I guess it just seemed much more authentic since it IS a nanosuit in which it was nicer to "select" "Maximum power" and watch him change colour and then be able to hit harder and jump higher. The Crysis 2 controls just were TOO simple for my personal taste I guess. If I want simple I do go console because of the streamlined controls and options.

i REALLY liked crysis 2. i do not like crysis one so much... i guess its just my style of games. i want a linear psuedo-open world story game. that is exactly what crysis 2 gave me. its why i am loving deus ex (and cant wait to restart on my brand new desktop im building on tuesday).

there is nothing wrong with crysis, its just not my style. it is a fantastic benchmark though. perhaps when i build my new desktop i will try to play through it. its possible the terrible graphics and low framerate on my crappy low end gaming laptop (i since sold it) were what was keeping me from liking it.

you know what's even better? PRessing shift to sprint normally without depleting your speed bar. When you are not even moving that fast to begin with.

Or jumping less height, or having close to 0 reason to use super strenght moves. etc.

Altho I agree that activating the functions with a button is easier, its not good to limit the actual movement. You should have buttons for the individual suit's modes, instead of marrying to specific contextual manners.

Crysis 2 is such a limited game compared to the first. But still decent albeit not really crysis lol.

    COD FTW ;)

sorry I couldn't resist! But really, Crysis 2 is really MW4. Just watch, the only thing they can do next is make it about aliens...or zombies. Either way it's the same game.

I love MW single player. I guess it's the storylines and the scripting. I understand that Crysis 2's storyline is rather generic, but I've been to New York City several times. I've been in Times Square, and I have friends and family who live in the city. So defending it from aliens strikes a chord with me. Same thing with defending suburban Virginia neighborhoods from Russians, and lighting up the flares on the roof of the White House while jets fly overhead. Epic moments are great. AMERICA!

Could not care less about some stupid island in the Pacific.
