    Crysis 1 or Crysis 3?

This isn't to debate which is "better." Crysis 3 technologically is the better game, no arguing that. But the poll and question is, which do you prefer? Your preference, game, story, visuals, go at it.

I'm Crysis 1 all the way for everything.

I think an update to Crysis 1 with better 3D effects on coverage, rocks, ground, higher texture details and upgrade it to DX11.2 would be a dream game. A PC only edition.

Crysis 1 by far, especially with actual support for mods, custom levels/maps, etc.

Crysis 2 and 3 are simply dumbed down, consolized garbage not worthy of the series.

Sadly, Cevat Yerli and Crytek have done what many other developers have originally done (eg. Epic, Rockstar, etc.), started their roots on the PC and then take a dump on it and move to console pastures in search for more money. :(

Crysis 1 & Warhead by a mile. And with mods can be just as impressive graphically as Crysis 3.

Which mods do you use? I haven't booted up Crysis 1 in a while.

Another Plus for Crysis & Warhead? They are on Steam.

Does the 860m run Crysis 1 on Ultra Settings? (and if, by what framerate?)

I think I should play Crysis 1 sometime. Bought a bundle on Steam like two years ago and still haven't touched them. Damn you, Crysis 2, you ruined everything!

    Personally I play with:

    In-game setting

    Crysis: DX9 Very High
    Crysis Warhead: DX9 Enthusiast

    Nvidia Inspector
DX9 SGSSAA (optional--rapes frame rate): 0x000002C1 + AA Fix off
    DX9 HBAO+: 0x0000000D

    Crysis
    1. Crysis - Rygel High Texture Mod (delete "zzNanoSuit.pak" and "\zzTexturesupdatepart1.pak\Objects\natural\Bushes\RoundLeafBush\Leaves_a.dd s")
    2. Silent's High Resolution Foliage (overwrite Rygel's files with these)
    3. Chrome235's Nanosuit Ultra Customizable
    4. slicer91's Ultra High Quality Weapons
    5. Xzero's Parallax Occlusion Mapping with anisotropic filtering (extract and place in your "\Crysis\Game" folder)
    6. BlackFire's Mod (optional--changes look of the game too much IMO and incompatible with Expanded Mod)
    7. Crysis Expanded Mod v1.0 (optional--changes look of the game too much IMO and incompatible with BlackFire's Mod)
    Crysis Warhead
    1. Crysis Warhead - Rygel High-Res Texture mod

Alternatively, you can use this combination of mods if you want to play in DX10 mode, but SGSSAA and HBAO+ won't work.

Yes but not at 60 FPS

Crysis and Crysis Warhead were fun games. I enjoyed the alternate sides of the island thing. I was hoping they'd continue in that vain.

Crysis 1 - With mods looks nice(especially the jungle), however during the gameplay you can feel the the game is old and just missing something.
Crysis 3 - In my opinion is overload of everything, released to extort(snatch, whip away) money from customers.
But Crysis 2 was the best for me. Not too little not too much nad multiplayer gives me a lot of fun, unfortunately now c2mp r.i.p.
Back to the topic, if I had to choose between C1 and C3 i'll go with C3.

    Play Crysis 1 with Dx9.

Add -dx9 at end of target in exe.
    Thank me later... :)

The actual performance improvement is less than 5% and DX10 does have better shader effects. For example, improved motion blur and DoF. But the difference is extremely subtle.

I only play in DX9 because Nvidia driver HBAO+ is of higher quality than the in-game SSAO (Crysis was the first game to feature ambient occlusion).

DX9 also lets you force SGSSAA in the driver, which looks spectacular on all the foliage, especially in motion (there's a picture of Crysis trees in the dictionary next to 'aliasing'). But it murders frame rate. On my highly overclocked 650M SLI, 4x SGSSAA cuts FPS by over 2/3 (60+ vs. <20). Maybe overclocked 980M will let me play with 4x SGSSAA at 60 FPS, but somehow I doubt it given the monster that Crysis still is.

crysis 3. graphics obviously. better controls with guns and vehicles and all around weapons. more interesting storyline. more variety of levels. easier gameplay. pretty epic boss battle and final level/world... plus that grass on welcome to the jungle...

i havent beaten crysis 1 yet, but i just feels weird with the mechanics, way easier to die, and even with it modded out, still doesnt look as great as 3. felt racist running around shooting a bunch of asians, which the whole game is so far... also amount of ammo sucks imo

Crysis 3 is a less nuanced and simpler game mechanically. Very limited physics interactivity too. But yeah on a scale of 1-10 in terms of difficulty Crysis is a 4 and Crysis 3 is a 2 LOL. Definitely not hard games comparatively speaking. The Nanosuit basically makes you a superhuman.

i just wish they would make a crysis 4 built for next gen and pc. obviously thinking of 360 and ps3 had them limit some things. too bad they said there won't be a crysis 4

Nah, make it a groundbreaking PC exclusive like Crysis 1 was. Crysis 4 = Crysis 1 (gameplay) + Crysis 3 (graphics). Putting it on current-gen consoles would automatically limit it out of the gate given how weak they are.

well i meant with them focusing on the pc version, then butchering it afterwards in every way they can to get it to run on the ps4 and xbone. maybe even pull a diablo kinda thing and make crysis 4 for pc only, then do a console port like a year later lol

I would be fine with Crytek making Crysis 4 a no holds barred PC exclusive and then releasing a severely downgraded console port for PS4 and XB1 4 years later, like they did for Crysis 1 ;)

I don't know why you're hoping THAT game from Rockstar fixes it. A better thing to hope for would be something out of 2K games or possibly even EA with BF:H. I don't even have faith Treyarch will deliver this year for PC even.

I would list release dates on PC based on PC dates though. Like I'd consider Alan Wake a "2012" title if that's when it came out on PC and it had upgraded graphics for PC.

They may still make a Crysis 4, just not name it "Crysis 4." Bungie did the same thing with Halo. I am fairly confident EA will want to continue milking consumers. Dolla-dolla bill$ ya'll, lol.

Are you serious? Destiny =/= Halo MMO. Bungie doesn't even have the rights to Halo anymore. It's owned by 343i.

If you must know, 343 is made up of former Bungie developers. So, yes, it is technically still Bungie - basically Bungie rebranded.

Anyway, I was talking about Halo being recreated again, even if it was supposed to be a trilogy. Same thing might happen to Crysis. The point was: there will probably be another. Who makes it is irrelevant.

Almost every time I post, you do this. Do you seek out posts or people to argue with? It seems so. You should speak with someone about that. Maybe you need a hug. :D

I like UT-style FPS... and I liked Destiny for awhile (would be great on PC)... but I'm not a COD type or anything.

LOL I'm broke atm. I'm going to have to file the paperwork for an extension :p
