    Hi!
I just ordered my first gaming laptop and i was wondering if it would run Crysis 2 on "extreme" settings. Here are the specs:
    Alienware M11x
    Intel Core i7 2617M 1.5GHz
    2GB DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz

    Thanks,
    At3

No. The GT 540M is not a strong card to run Crysis 2 with all bells and whistles. Your specs might be around "Gamer" or "Advanced" but not "Extreme" if you want playable frame rates.

Oh ok. Thanks! I asked because many say you don't get the "full experience" without extreme lol.

Well that is not quite true but you don't get all the eyecandy like you could from Crysis 1 without going "Extreme". However the game is still looks good even on lower settings, especially on your m11x, where the resolution is around 720p native.

I guess it depends on what you consider the word "run" to be. I only have 280's (sli) in my m17x, and I can run Crysis 2, with everything set to ULTRA, with the enhanced texture pack installed, and have fluid, smooth frame rates. Only thing I have off is aa, and my rezz is downgraded a bit. Looks gorgeous, imho.

It is a ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) processor that is for netbooks and the sort.

Yeah, I have a 5730 ( which is a tad better than the GT540M ), and I run it at 1080p, DX11, all Ultra at playable frames!

If you register the retail key on Origin you dont need a DVD drive.
You can then also play without inserting the DVD.

Its a digital store that only sells EA games.
You can also activate all of the newer EA games on it so you get a digital copy of the game for no extra charge.

Its also not needed to have Origin running in the background once the game is installed like Steam with offline mode.

If you have DX 11 enable and high resolution pack install then you will see a big performance hit. Since the 280's doesn't do dx 11 that why you can run it in ultra.
