Crysis 2 DX 11 Patch Today

According to the guys at Maximum PC Crysis 2 should receive a DirectX 11 patch today which will also unlock an advanced graphics menu in-game.
Crysis 2 already looks amazing in DX9 mode, so it'll be interesting to see how much more DX11 adds to the visuals. Thanks goes out to "N Baker" for the tip!

I wonder if DX11 visuals are already incorporated into the game or if we will need to download a huge patch for DX11 visuals. I think they had the time to incorporate DX11 into the game before launch rather than release a patch less than a week since release.

 

Who knows with game makers anymore. I think its going to be a big patch that they worked on after getting so much hate mail for sucking up to consoles.

Looks like i have to wait more. Can't they just release everything in 1 go with the game? They deserve all the hate mail for keeping it DX9 first to suck up to the consoles..

 

Yeah seems like BF3 will be the new king of FPS in terms of looks. They officially stated that Frostbite 2 will be a PC priority with DX11 in mind. So consoles will be getting PC ports, which in actually fairness won't actually harm the quality of the output. It is only console ports for PC's that get dicked on, royally.

 

Crytek had set the bar incredibly high with Crysis. The bar was set so high, that for many including myself, 4 years later is still the best looking game ever made. But that makes Crysis 2 and Crytek an easy target for ridicule. Lack of DX11 at launch is disappointing and the launch graphic setting options are disappointing. But, I believe after seeing the game for myself, even though it is DX9, it's the best looking game I've played since Crysis now. Yes I would say, I enjoy the visuals of Crysis 2 more than BC2. The game runs smooth, and the basics are polished so well, it's seamless.

When the price of Crysis 2 is more reasonable, I would agree, even if Crytek doesn't release a DX11 patch, just for the visuals alone, Crysis 2 is worth your $10 on Steam. Add another $10 once they resolve the multi-player issues. And maybe another $5 considering the plot and story is better than any other FPS released of late with reasonable amount of content, around 10 hours. Once the MP is fixed, $25 for a DX9 game as good looking, polished, with a decent plot, is not unreasonable I think.

Crytek did not do anything amazing or ground breaking with Crysis 2. But they did the basics well and I think the best. DICE has nothing on Crysis 2 on these basics. The lighting, the shadowing, art, texture, depth of field, blurring and post processing effects are superior in Crysis 2 DX9 than BC2 DX11.

And I wouldn't speculate too much BF3 yet. DICE is not at the helm, it's the investors and EA executives. They are funding the marketing and PR that are stating that PC is lead and PC will get special treatment. DICE is being paid well to say all this. But behind doors, EA/Investors want a smash hit on consoles and a cross platform game to make a billion in sales like COD. I'm not saying BF3 won't be amazing, but I just wouldn't believe with blind faith until you've actually seen the finished product for yourself. I think sometimes people forget, EA is not just the publisher of DICE games. EA OWNS DICE, EA decides whether DICE continues to make games and or whether they close down DICE tomorrow. EA is DICE's boss in every way.

Got no dx11 hardware yet .. oh well ..

On side note to those patches .. there goes your payed game multiplayer ;P patch is out so everyone can go online with random serials ...

 

I don't see anything about dx 11 in thoes notes or any settings in game for dx11.

Or does it automatic add dx11 on the highest game quality setting?

And yes im running it on my desktop with the 5870.
