    Hey all,

I'm thinking about picking up Crysis 2 as a birthday present for myself (how sad) and I've heard pretty good things about the campaign, how while it's linear you can still choose how you will get or achieve the objective at hand.

However, I'm not going to be playing the campaign and only that, I've watched a few video's of the multiplayer available and I'm wondering a few things about it.

    - I've heard reports of lag/latency issues
    - Is it worth it
    - Is the community strong (Preferably Australia)
    - is it appealing and can you see yourself, going back to it?

Thanks guys, I feel like pulling the trigger but I also want another FPS MP experience to have fun with during breaks.

Hmm, this may be a bit of a downer, but these are just from my experiences:

I agree that the campaign is quite good. Even though it may not have the best story out there, I thought that besides the anti gravity part in Crysis 1, it was def. better overall!

however, they have decided to focus completely on multiplayer, and have been releasing map packs quickly. Sounds great to get any support at all, right? Well, here's the problem.. the dx11 controversy is still huge; it wasn't released on release like they said, and it's summer and we still haven't heard anything, but they're charging for another map pack.

The worst part is, they still aren't using punkbuster to try and get rid of cheaters, which are a huge problem to the game. On top of that, there are still plenty of bugs/fixes to go around... this includes latency but honestly that takes a back seat to the hacking going on.

I can only comment on the EA community for Crysis when I say that it's filled with whiners, but fun to play with friends. Until recently, it was featured on Steam, which made communication even easier.

It really is basically CoD in a suit, however. Most of the 'perks' are your suit powers, sure, but there are killstreak events and even the speed of the game seems to suggest that they were trying to appeal to this kind of player. Not necessarily a bad thing, as I've had it since release and still play sometimes.

Wow, so it sounds that its bug ridden and full of hackers? Damn, the video's from various commentators made it look so inticing.

If you can plead your case on why I should still go pick up Crysis 2 go ahead, if you can't can you give me an idea of a good MP/SP game besides CoD/BF

Well the price on the game continues to go down. I know Steam had a deal on it the other week, it was maybe 30-40? And EA has deals every week on their games, Crysis 2 has been 50% off a few times now. I recommend adding EA Insider Deals on facebook or twitter and keeping watch.

You can have some fun with the game but it would be unfair I think to suggest paying full price for it. I think when some mods come out, its going to be really good. I don't know if you played Crysis 1, but there were some incredible mods. Especially MechWarrior: Living Legends mod for Crysis Wars - Mod DB

would LOVE to see that in C2... I hope the mod community doesnt give up on the game

Crysis 2 is not worth it for multiplayer and at the current price they are asking for the game, I would keep waiting for it to hit near bargain bin prices before committing.

If you are stuck on FPS only, then sadly, I don't many serious FPS's besides CoD/BF that is popular. There is Arma II, but that game isn't really popular and I don't know if you ever considered Valve games like L4D2 or TF2.

I already have TF2 and some other valve games, I was just looking for a new FPS. Looks like I might be sticking to old MW1.

The campaign is still good yes? And dosn't the mod come out in august? So it would be a wise move to wait until august for the developer console and a lower price?

the last week has been quite interesting with steam and EA
due to steams new t&g crysis 2 has now been removed from steam. it will still be supported for people that have already bought it from steam but if you want to download it you have to go to EA's origin site.

im still loving the game especially downed pod in multiplayer. i know i must be mad but ive bought both map packs. they are a great addition to the maps but at the moment there are not many servers and even less players on them.

the game has had many patches that have sorted out a lot of the problems. there are a lot less cheats and hackers now. the dx11 patch is on the way soon and also the mod for players to build their own maps and share them with the world.

i dont buy many games so this will keep me going until battlefield 3 and MW3 are released in october/november.

yea you know, speaking of steam.. I really, really wish they hadn't done that! I don't know how good EA's platform is, but they will definitely lose out on money from steam sales.

I was looking forward to a free weekend of crysis 2 too, like where they gave black ops free to everyone the other week. Not that a CoD needed a sales boost, but plenty of other games benefit from that. love those weekends... so many new players :)

FREE BLACK OPS?! Was it some kind of demo version, or the entire thing because thats outrageous.

I don't mind playing in DX9 might be help my little E14, I think I'll go ahead with the purchase to keep me entertained, and the developer console coming out does sound like a lot of fun and I can see myself spending a fair amount of time creating and modding content on there, also that may cause a boost in the population of the game.

    Thanks guys.

the worrying thing is it looks like battlefield 3 and many other games wont be available on steam anymore.
i bet cod are laughing all the way to the bank.

the black ops weekend was the full game. also the map pack was half price. still didnt buy the maps though as imo blops was a failure in my books because the lag was so bad i couldnt play it properly.

so it shows ive bought both maps for crysis 2 so thats saying something.

I don't think EA's ever had a free weekend on Steam. Only AAA games I recall for that were TF2, and the last two CoDs.

Crysis 2 MP is among the worst MP games I've ever played : bugs, hackers every game, lots of lag, and terrible hit reg. I do not recommend it. EA tried to copy CoD with fancy shmancy suits. They failed. Bad ;)

The Black Ops thing was just the entire multiplayer, free for that weekend (Fri afternoon to Sunday afternoon). They've done it before with other games like UT3, TF2, and L4D.

yeah the cod map packs are priced ridiculously. can you believe they just announced another one?! and millions will still buy that + the subscription thing they're throwing around :p

anyways, Orange Canary, do enjoy the game. The campaign should definitely be played on hard at least, I prefer Post-Human. The AI is a little too dumb sometimes on norm, but you can play like predator the whole time :p

Well I'm going to pick up Brink and Crysis 2, and I'll do a review on both and probably a video. If their horrible I'll return them.

Is there any free video editors that I can use? E.g I use fraps to capture footage, and then do a commentary over it and then compile it into the one video.

WMM I think is an OK one.

Also, FYI, since 1 week after release, I can't play C2 MP.
