EL33TONLINE: News - Crysis 2 is out today in North America, watch the crushing launch trailer!
I never had a chance to play the demo (by the time I got my gaming notebook working the servers were down).

Yes, still not too enthusiastic about it, I'm waiting for some reviews...

The multiplayer demo was less than spectacular, very buggy and the gameplay felt very "consolized".

I didn't like the demo because they had one smaller cramped map with constant killing and one big map that for some reason just sucked alot. I hope they made bigger maps that don't suck or else I will be unhappy with the game. I preordered the game and now it wont download pissed off woke up early! have to wait for 7 am? The demo was ok but it stopped working because servers shut down a few days ago.
update: i just started the steam download. -

I really enjoyed the single player of both Crysis and Warhead, and am tempted to make the purchase for the single player campaign. Just hope it wraps things up nicely.

Whether I like it or not I'll probably end up buying this game today, LOL.
-
Waiting for reviews as well.
But I see walkthrough videos are up already. -
Campaign sounds like it's a solid 10-12 hour. For me that probably means 20, lol. Longer than the first two.
-

don't you have until the 24th to preorder it on steam which is stupid?
That's adorable, Htwingnut -

that was really weird i meant to put the quote where sumbody said how long campaign was but it put these two and i dont even know how to put multiple quotes :0 -

I'm still contemplating buying it after the nice $179 ticket I got last week and the fact that it cost me $44 to fill up my gas tank yesterday...
-
Dangit, I did it. I told myself I wasn't going to buy a single game this year at normal retail price, but I already failed.
Oh well, single player campaign better be good.
Oh and for Multiquote, click "multiquote" on every post you want to quote and then click quote on one the last quote you want to quote. With "New NBR Style" (default) it will say "multiquote" but with vBulletin style it will be an image of a quote with a + sign. -

Well, since you bought it, might as well go to the store and stare at it for 10 minutes before eventually buying it, lol, brb.
-
Have fun. I've done that too. Just sit there and stare at it reasoning why NOT to buy it but end up getting it anyhow.

done downloading!!! i thiunk ill play singleplayer first!!!!
-
2+ hours left for me.
-
Waiting for reviews..preferably from fellow players and not someone who might possibly make money by selling it or advertising it (gaming websites are selling out :/).
-
I'm curious if they still left the graphics options as Gamer/Advanced/Hardcore or if they added further tweaks. Regardless, I'll probably buy this game after work.
-
Crysis 2 I doubt will be no different. Remember Gamespot's Crysis 1 review? Best game etc etc. That guy LOVED Crysis, although probably the best reviewer Gamespot ever had. But no doubt IGN etc, will give it great reviews, just because it's Crytek. -
Hey for those who are downloading now can you confirm?
I'm reading on forums it's DX9 only and 32 bit only. The game still needs a DX11/64 patch. Is this true? If you have Steam, obviously you won't have 64 bit, but if someone is downloading via direct2drive or has the box etc, let us know about the 64 bit also. -
-
Crysis 1 gave me a lot of issues in my system... like missing textures, messy physics and *many* BSODs... even reinstalling didn't fix that, so I eventually got bored and forgot about it...
I hope Crysis 2 is not the same... -
thanks for rubbing it in. weve got to wait until friday here in the uk.
at least i got my server today to set up. -
Just got my copy from UPS.
Pre-ordered it last April for $30. -

loving the game so far! omg so much fun! there are 3 graphics options still but because of the confusion from which was the most graphical with the demo, they changed it to just high, very high, and extreme. I run it on very high@1080p
the only problem is that I can't get my steam cd key to work for the multiplayer , but then again theres only 4 servers up. so it doesnt really matter yet.
it looks about 2 times as good as crysis 1 was with the same framerates. looking now to see if i can change the directx.
there are 2 files in the game directory called d3dx10_42 and d3dx9_42. I assume there is a way to run it in directx 10 but probably default 9. Steam only put a x32 bit folder, but maybe somebody else can run it in 64 bit. even crysis warhead had 64 bit...
edit: don't 32 bit programs have a "x32" at the end of them or something? the crysis 2 game program is just called that...no 32 anywhere, even though its in a 32 bit folder. -
. Still, find it hard to trust Gamespot these days either, depending on which writer wrote the review. I just trust my fellow gamers more. The writer of that article even skates over the issue a bit. Most reviewers are 'invited' to review events, or more often, only get pre-release or even release issues of a game if a reviewer consistently gives them good press; if they write a scathing or even disfavorable review they often get cut out of the loop, sometimes permanently.

Argh... I don't know, should I get it? Is it worth it?

I wait for reviews from Techspot, anandtech or other decent sites where they will have the balls to point out the negatives. Do some analysis on the PC and tell us what hardware runs best, what are the best settings. Quad vs Dual, and the effects of overclocking and possible tips for improvements. The good and bad of the engine etc. A review that actually has something to tell, instead of, I smiled when I played this game because I just received gifts from Crytek... -
I get around 18fps with settings on "Hardcore" at 1920x1200.

I'm getting in mid 50's to 70's depending on where I'm at using 485m at stock speeds. Running 1080p very high. Very smooth. So far the game is pretty good but don't see the story arc yet from the first two, I sure hope I do. The 485m is decently more powerful than the 5870m plus as stated, so about what I'd expect from the FPS.
I don't see any way to adjust advanced settings though. How do you adjust AA and such? -
Can you change the voice of the suit to female like in the 1st one and warhead? I can't stand the throaty male voice....
-
Just a FYI, if you want to disable these, put in the command line :
+r_MotionBlur=0
+r_SSAO=0
+r_PostMSAA=0
+r_FSAA=0
+g_SkipIntro=1
When I remember more, I will share. -
Isn't there a config file somewhere at least where I can adjust the detailed graphics? I can't believe they don't offer that in-game!
Thanks Phistachio, I saw your Steam PM but Steam wanted to restart and clicked OK, before I could respond, lol. -
I just hope someone creates a CFG modifier, so I can turn off the crappy post processing... -
I put the g_SkipIntro = 1 into the system.cfg file and it seemed to work. Just wish they'd list all the options and have them on or off so that you can fiddle. Definitely a console port.
When you go to adjust your brightness is reads "adjust your TV" lol. -
Let me eat and then jump to my laptop -
Huh so it's confirmed. No 64 bit and no DX11. So much for the PC release.
-
Yeah, but I don't think 64-bit will make much of a difference, it didn't in original Crysis, and DX11 will just bring things to a crawl, although it would be nice to see. Definitely suffers from consolitis.
-
-
I'm excited to play through the single player. I just went to best buy and bought it a few minutes ago...but sadly I'm at work.
FYI- if you buy it there today they give you a $10 gift card.....(at least at the Best Buy near me).
-
I hope the PC Community can have as much fun with Crysis 2 as they did with Crysis 1. Crytek not be a about the piracy issue and release editors and allow for modding.

Na I wouldn't take those user reviews too seriously because each one of them have 1 user that rates is so low that it brings the total score down (mainly because there are only a few reviews currently). PC Gamer gave it good reviews as well as ign and others. My bet is that the average rating after all the reviews come in will be hovering around 88-90% which is where I am comfortable buying a game. Also it will tie me over until Battlefield 3
-
And uncharted 3.
Crysis 2 is out today in North America?
