I'm thinking about getting either of these games for my new 6990's. Which do you all think is better?

If you're going solely for benchmarking then Crysis 2. But if you want a very good game (still has good graphics) then get Deus Ex: HR.

FYI: Steam Christmas sale should have Deus Ex on sale for a good price (prolly $20-$25). Crysis 2 has been on sale on EA Origin for $10 several times in the past few weeks.

    Get Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
(Tracked 41h in it on Steam)

Gameplay wise its not a pure shooter but i think it was way better than Crysis 2.
You can also just mess around and the game wont penalize you that much. :3
The PC version is also much better than the average console ports we see nowadays.

I can run the game without issues with a single HD 6970m.

Deus Ex was awesome. But with Crysis 2 @ $10, and Deus ex at <$20 during the up coming sale, I would get both.

Crysis 2 with the high resolution DX11 texture pack.

It'll make your laptop cry. :p

If it's any consolation, the GTX 590 can't managed 60 fps @ 1080p on the maximum settings. :D Have fun matching that. :D

Depends on what you want, Crysis 2 is definitely the better shooter but Deus Ex has more depth. But if you would like pure shooter fun it does not get better that Crysis 2

Deus Ex story mode is pure , but its single player only. beat it couple times you will get tired of it. (i have unlocked all trophies on PS3, including DLC. and i have spent at least 100 hours on that game.)
crysis 2 has multiplayer, it has way more replay value. (Beat it once on PS3, didnt like the multiplayer. I like COD better.)

Nobody plays Crysis 2 online on PC.
A jerky launch, bugs and rampant cheating killed what little community that existed.

Talk about timely. I just bought Crysis 2. Its a good shooter-I mean I'm having fun. The direct11 pack, and the high resoultion pack make the game "pretty" (LOL) :p . I would recommend it.

The only problem I've had is I can't get it to show up in the stupid origin games list.

I played Crysis 2 single player and it left a sour taste on my mouth in the end, even if it wasnt that bad.

Deus Ex kept me hooked for about 8 times more hours than crysis 2 and left me a feeling of replaying it again.

Keep in mind that Deus Ex is not just a shooter, so in that regard it will be worse than Crysis, but I believe it is a much better and complete game, much more interesting.

Deus Ex is a great game, but despite looking like a shooter, it's not. Think of it as Mass Effect 2 dialogue trees combined with Batman: Arkham Asylum adventure and stealth, all with a really good/grim imagining of a near-future Detroit, and you've pretty much got it.

If you liked the original Deus Ex, you'll like the new one.

    I wouldn't be opposed to a DX1 reboot.

    PC has DX11 + Tessellation + anti-aliasing + mouse/keyboard + easy hotkeys + 1080p.

    Um... yeah.

I liked Deus EX. It felt a lot like the original. Best thing ever is hacking a turret, then you can lift the thing up and take it with you where ever you go. Even into boss battles :D

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the main game.

The Explosive mission pack DLC gives you access to a extra singleplayer mission, and some equipment /weapons.
The Tactical Enhancement pack gives you extra startup credits and weapons.

I finished my game without the DLC just fine.

The last DLC, named The Missing Link is more of a standalone game since it does not require the main game.
I bought it when it was on the Steam sale.

Seems pretty nice, and it also offers improved graphics because it utilizes more Tesselation than the main game.

Wait until the Steam Holiday sale and Deus Ex might pop on at a discount. :3

DX:HR is way deeper than Crysis 2 but, I just couldn't really get into it. I liked Crysis 2 much better, even though it's a shallow Michael Bay-ish game. Just was more "fun" to me.

    crysis 2... not even a competition :D

EDIT: I mean for the graphical part (he wants to stress his new 6990m), otherwise gameplay wise, I enjoyed crysis 2 a LOT, but it is the most linear gameplay I have ever ever seen

I'm about three or four hours into Deus Ex: HR now, and while it's good, it's not wowing me. Problem is, while I like the atmosphere and the total package, it doesn't do anything that wasn't done better a year or so earlier by Mass Effect 2 (branching dialogue, RPG--cover-based-shooter) and Batman: Arkham Asylum (stealth, gadgets).

I've played some Mass Effect 1 and I love the story, but the combat is kind of bleh. I feel like it could be a lot better for an action rpg. I also don't like searching planet to planet for like, one chick. The environments aren't the greatest.

Also, its not about STRESSING my 6990's. I just want something that takes advantage of them and plays great.

EDIT: Deus EX plays great with everything @ max. Is the story for DEUS ex better than crysis? Or is it one of those retarded squaresoft (enix) stories that no one understands?

But I was talking about Mass Effect 2, not Mass Effect 1. Totally different combat system that's light-years ahead of ME1. And they do a better job of telling you where to go, so you no longer have to search planet-to-planet to find the next quest. ME1 is A New Hope and ME2 is The Empire Strikes Back. You need the first for the second to make sense, but the second is just in a whole different league quality-wise.

I find myself doing that as well. And I've heard for the boss fights, that stand-up fighting is really the only option, so perhaps it's better to build your character as a soldier than a ninja superspy.

I enjoyed Crysis 2 as well. I thought the story was absurd, but it's a game! And the transitions between powers I thought were smooth and fun. The guns were nice as well.

i found it is much easier if you just sneaking and taking people out while undetected. you wont survive very long if you go guns blazing. in Deus Ex, ammo is limited, and your inventory space does not allow you to carry multiple weapons with ammo.

PS: The best gun in the game is the standard pistol. and the laser gun, which you wont get untill 3/4 of the game, save it for the final boss.
