    Hello everyone! :)

    ---------------------------------------------------------

WOW! 24000 thread views and 3 website referrals! :D

    ----------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO : DISABLE TEMPORAL AA

Temporal AA is the AA method Crytek used in CE3, and you might have noticed, one of its biggest drawbacks is ghosting. When something moves, there is some odd blur after it. That's the effect of TAA. There is NO WAY to disable this. But, it is possible : by deleting the registries related to Temporal AA. WARNING : I TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

Open regedit and browse to : /MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000 OR /0001, check the 2D driver version in CCC2.

Look for anything related to TemporalAAMultiplier, or something like that. I will check tomorrow. Delete anything related to Temporal AA. Then browse to /MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/Class/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0000(1)/UMD and look again for anything related to Temporal AA. NOTE : if you like temporal AA, backup the registries. This COMPLETELY gets rid of ANY TAA in ANY game.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Just found this amazing CFG program. It does wonders!

    ----------------------------------

Here goes my list of tweaks to help you all out, either if you are having problems, or you want to turn off a setting. Here it goes! :D

IMPORTANT! IF YOU PUT THESE CONFIGS INTO SYSTEM.CFG, YOU WON'T NEED THE "+" BEHIND, ONLY THE COMMAND, FOR EXAMPLE - sys_spec_shading=3

    1 = Enabled; 0 = Disabled; x = Enter the desired value; 1/2/3 = 1 is smallest setting and 3 is highest

To execute these commands, you either put them in system.cfg ( if existent ) or you put them on the command line.

It is not a strict command line, it is called, under properties, "Destiny".

Right Click on the .exe, and select properties. Go for "Shortcut" tab, and you should see ( for example ) :

    Destiny ( or how it is in English, it's under "File Location" ) : "D:\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\Bin32\Crysis2.exe"

And then, to add commands, let's say you want to turn off Motion Blur and increase the FOV, it will be :

    Destiny : "D:\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\Bin32\Crysis2.exe" +r_MotionBlur=0 +cl_fov=90 +r_DrawNearFoV=90 +pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90

Understand? Basically, after the destiny, just put the commands you want, with a + behind.

This thread/post will be constantly updated.

    Here are the available tweaks/configs:

Phistachio - in the old crysis their was a command for the actual video mem that was used for textures. It was one of the tweaks that almost doubled my performance in crysis and WH. Do you know if they have that setting for Cry2?

Also I played the MP and SP for a while today at high and very high. It looks really good in my opinion. I think most will agree it's not as big of a jump forward when the first was released but it looks freakin great!

Can you please specify a little bit better about that VRAM command?

Also, high, very high an extreme are all almost the same, except for mandatory AA, SSAO, FSAA, MSAA, EAA and terrible over-used bloom and motion blur. Thank God I can disable Mblur!

    Updated OP with new configs.

If it goes into system.cfg you don't need the "+" sign either.

Nope. Crytek blocked them by having 3 pre-sets : High, Very High and Extreme. Rumours say that there will be maximum extreme, and perhaps it will be DX11.

I don't even see the point in that, except to enrage gamers... I'm sure it can't take that long to code a proper options menu.

Yeah, kinda dumb. Shows how much support it got for the PC. Can't even spare an intern for a week to create an "advanced graphics" menu.

So far actually enjoying it. But haven't gotten that far. I enjoyed the first two quite a bit. Primarily because the first two weren't that difficult and don't have to replay the same level over and over and over again just to get past it. It seems much more difficult to see enemies though, although they have no issue seeing you. I'd rep you but I over-repped today. If I remember I'll do it tomorrow! :)

Someone who knows a little front end programming could make a quick little app to add these to the system.cfg. I don't have the skills or tools anymore to do it otherwise I would!

@All = can you please add an example to your original post of what the executable looks like with the additions? It's always a bit different in the steam version

Just put it in your system.cfg file. No need to add it on to the executable.

There was someone who made a app for tweaking the game but it was just the demo. The person who made it said if they purchase the full version they will port it over but for now just adding lines to the system config is a no brainer really.

Disabling the intro will save you time testing each change you make .

Right, but an app could add description of all the options, just a little more clean is all.

Find your Steam folder (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam ??? - I dunno because I install on different drive)

    Steam\steamapps\common\crysis 2 --> system.cfg is in the root of crysis 2

You might have to run the game once for it to appear.

I see the tradition of tweaking crysis did not die with the first game.

There is only a couple of tweaks I need to make for my game.

    Width - 5980
    FOV - 144

    :D

    Nope, just saying.

I will get it down the road when its on some super sale but for now I am on a super tight budget (you know part of why) and I have so many other games to play buying more would be like throwing an extra log into a forest fire.

I am committed to get better at SC2 right now and will be playing Portal 2 when it comes out.

So....I can just literally paste the 1st page commands and their 0 or 1 anywhere into the config file? Or is there some special place or method of putting the commands into the config file that I'm not aware of?

Yep. Copy/paste the commands you want and enable/disable them into system.cfg or command line.

I see no command line in the .exe properties, can I add them anywhere to the system.cfg?

    Yes.

It is not a strict command line, it is called, under properties, "Destiny".

Right Click on the .exe, and select properties. Go for "Shortcut" tab, and you should see ( for example ) :

    Destiny ( or how it is in English ) : "D:\Electronic Arts\Bin32\Crysis2.exe" +r_MotionBlur=0 +sys_specs_PostProcessing=1

Understand? Basically, after the destiny, just put the commands you want, with a + behind.

your post had me interested in boosting my warhead performance, and I looked up this cvar to find this is a way for the system to monitor how much ram you have, not to give it more, it acts only as a warning, so im still curious about your speed boost, maybe you just turned off the buffer and have the whole level load right into ram?

Daranik - I am sure that is one that makes a big boost in warhead specifically. Also cry1 . I posted it a long time ago in the m11x forums. I will try to find it.

Here is info and thread.. took me a while.. just realized im almost up to 2000 posts.. ugh (Back from Sept 2010)

the texture streaming and color grading would be the biggest fixes out of your list here,

inCrysis - Crysis Forums / No more streaming problems! Warhead finally butter smooth!
this is the link explained that budget videomem is just to issue a warning if the ram is close to being used up, it doesn't increase any budget amount

sys_enable_budgetmonitoring=1 is what its used for.

also the usePOM cvar is used to add a shadow type map giving objects a 3d look, this cuts 2fps off your game, objects do tend to look flatter with it off though.
http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=11614 heres a nice guide to tweeking i just found.

All i can say is to perform a before and after benchmark with the sys budget thing. It makes a difference. That's all I know...

Because it's a console port, they put as little effort into the PC version as they could to make it playable.

    Hello! Welcome to NBR :)

    1. Open the console by pressing the "\" button, above the tab button.
    2. If you want to tweak, you will need to put the tweaks in autoexec.cfg
    3. I don't know, sorry :(

I believe i have found the list of all Cvars available but i am not 100% sure that they all work. I found this list in the patch1.pak file. also i have found that using an autoexec.cfg has worked out best for imputing console commands. That is because when the game is loaded you can press ~ to see all the console commands that were imputed via the autoexec.cfg file and see if they actually worked or not. It is possible that commands such as r_Glow were just renamed instead of removed. However all of this is merely speculation at this point and I will be going through them and testing/verifying their functionality.

^Great find! Welcome to NBR :)

But now lays the question : will it work if we put the file read only, therefore NOT allowing the game to change those commands? Would it work?

Honestly at this point I am not sure what to think I have been trying to go through the code and see why certain variables are "not registered" and so fourth. Also to open .Pak files you will need to download quickbms and search for a .bms file online or code one so that it will extract the files. I have copy and pasted the whole list of Cvars into an autoexec.cfg. Not all of them worked for various reasons but i am uploading my log so that everyone can see which were recognized and which were. Hopefully this will help us all get one step further towards running a maxed out, bloom less crysis 2.

Did you disabled Motion Blur ( 0 ) and Edge AA ( 0 )? If so, then why is it overriding itself?

I put my file read-only, with almost all the stuff disabled, no luck

I attach 8 benches for CPU and GPU for all you guys ;)
Extract it in the main directory and TEST !
Let me know it works for you or if some errors appear.

For the .pak archives..I managed to unpak them but not to make the crysis.exe read the repacked ones :(

atPhistachio: Are you sure that sys_ commands don't work?? They work for me..strange!
