i think there should be more complex shader and texture options for pc, crytek has no reason to abandon the company image they spent so much to create.

You know I never really enjoyed the first one. Maybe it was because it made my fairly powerful laptop get on its knees and beg for mercy. This second one has peeked my interest though.
-
I don't really know what to say if this rumour is true. This means that the last story will be abandoned midway.
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Lol it's not a rumour. And I have to admit I will miss the jungle warfare. There are not enough shooters set in the outdoors imo and Crysis did it the best.
-
I think the city setting will be pretty awesome actually. I think the story is set 4 years after the first one. Haven't really got into Crysis until about a month ago when the Maximum Edition went on sale on Steam and I can't wait for more Crysis games to come out.

Ugh, I think that the jungle fighting is going to be better than fighting in NY...
Plus, I won't be able to go ninja on the Koreans. I prefer fighting humans to aliens, the aliens are just frustrating.
The attached picture expresses my feelings on this game.Attached Files:

Sweet
Watch it be a PS3 release only and just p iss off all the Xbox users -
Yawn. It'll be more linear than even Warhead, to accommodate the console weakness.
-
just saying there probably is some rediculusly inefficient quality settings for high end pcs, just there for the sake of it. -
Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
And MULTI-CORE support ALREADY

didn't the first game end on a cliffhanger? i think we'll at least se some of the jungles back.

I'm kind of confused about their release date. They have an 11 month window beginning 2 months from now. I'd understand 11 months if they released the statement a year ago, but it's so close to April now that I feel they should either know it will be ready by then or know that it won't. Can anyone clarify this for me?
-
They might release console version first, to make more money. (easy to battle with pirated copies)
-
I guess being in the city won't show the console-ized weakness of crap textures and detail as much as amazing natural landscapes

Whhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttt! What!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's Going To Be In A City Now!!!!!!! Now Where Is My Foliage That Doesn't Cover Worth Jack Squat Going To Appear From Now?!?!?!?!?!?

Can you imagine a console trying to compute small arms fire hitting individual branches of a tree, plus delivering beautiful jungle graphics at an acceptable framerate..? NYC makes sense I guess. I am not happy about it though. Crysis was one of the best looking games I've played, I love the sweeping open landscapes, along with claustrophobic intense Jungle combat. The physics engine really shined with the jungle.
I can't believe its being released on the consoles as well as PC. I hate getting console ports, Borderlands for example pissed me off with the way the menu systems worked. I really hope Crysis isn't like this. -
-
Sounds like a potential crisis to me. If this is made to cater for the console and then quickly and poorly stuffed onto a PC DVD then they can forget a purchase from me.
-
They've confirmed that it's a PC first -> down port to consoles situation.
The PC version will look significantly better. -
^^^ Thats good to know.

While it's good to hear, and I've no reason to doubt it, are there any links to the PC to console path? I'd like good, solid confirmation.

As for Crysis being so urban, it's obvious that such an environment really lowers the burden on Crytek to make an open world game. Visuals can be tailored to be more "close in" where as the first Crysis and Warhead forced them to create great visual acuity across a vast distance. The game can still be made to give you open path finding through the environment (like Pripyat in the STALKER games), however, Crytek's games so far emphasized the natural environment, even though Crysis and Warhead showed great potential for fully urban visuals. Seeing the CE3.0 demos, we should've realized that Crytek was going urban on us. It was in plain sight. If it's going to be in New York, here's for some Central Park, open natural world goodness! -

I think for what it's doing, GTAIV runs pretty well. The amount of CPU operations when graphics and world orchestration details (object population, physics) are maxed are quite above what you see on the PS3 and 360. It needs alot of raw CPU power in order to properly process the world, AI, interaction, etc as well as feeding data to the graphics card for visual rendering that could be as high as 1920 x 1080p, not to mention better shadows, shader resolution, texture filtering, object view distance, etc. The big problem I have with the game is the graphical choices the devs made in regards to shadowing. The noise based shadow rendering is good in some applications, like Crysis, but in GTA4, at lower settings, it looks horrible, killing some of the visual appeal of the game.

King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
Isn't Crysis a trilogy excluding warhead. Perhaps crysis 2 takes us away from the jungle but crysis 3 will bring us back again to finish off on the island!
-
Nice. Having played Crysis for the first time during Steam's holiday sales, I am looking forward to this one.
Perhaps we won't see the individual tree branches getting hit by bullets, but I see something like that firefight in the first Matrix movie. You know, the one on the lobby of the building, where all the concrete in the columns is torn to pieces.
I see plenty of potential here if the PC version is not overlooked by the developers. Jumping from one building to another should be interesting. There are tons of possibilities. Also, what's stopping them from also including Central Park? Plenty of green areas there. Having a shootout on the American Museum of Natural History, tearing everything apart, or at the library, how about jumping off those enormous buildings, crashing through glass, etc, etc.
Yup, I see potential. Hopefully I (and the rest of Crysis players) won't be disappointed. -

I am going to keep my eye on this as well

as long as you can move in and out of buildings somewhat, there is hope
I just hope it is not as linear as Gears Of War is where there are buildings but you can only go where they want you too -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing

This REALLY makes me worry that this will turn into another "FEAR 2", where the sequel is dumbed down for the new console audience and the story doesn't take place after the cliffhanger of the first game because the console gamers largely didn't play the prequel. Thus, PC gamers who were fans of the franchise are let down. Even FEAR 2 when pandered to the console gamers didn't do that well critically and the PC gamers were let down in the process. Great move guys.
Even if the game has small environments indoors because of the limits of the consoles, at least the PC modding community can create expansive, outdoors levels with the editor that will come with the game. I'm not sure if the console versions will have an editor as well. -
If Crysis 2 is slated for an open and bustling city environment, then your computer will have a Crysis-style meltdown. Improved graphical effects aside, will be much more demanding than the first game.
-
Crysis is the most pointless game I have ever, ever, ever played.
from minute 1 they throw you into some jungle with not so obvious storyline and you just keep walking around killing people. and you find yourself in the next level.
Much like burnout, it's one of those games you literally uninstall after 20 minutes of playing. -

Crysis was ok, haven't played Warhead, waiting on the bargain bin!
Had a lot more fun playing Far Cry !!! -

That is my personal opinion, I didn't miss any point because I see none, and I'm not trolling.
Nobody is kicking you from behind and telling you to accept my opinion. -
In all honesty I think I've had my fill of tropical island locations...
Hurrah for urban warfare!
Crysis 2 will be set in New York (News)
