Crysis 3 announced, coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360
by Andrew Yoon, Apr 11, 2012 10:50am PDT
Related Topics – Crysis 3, xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Crytek, EA, PC, Crysis Series

Crysis 3 has been announced--but only after a series of leaks forced publisher Electronic Arts to confirm the game's existence. "The best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained," the publisher confirmed.

Leaked boxart which appeared briefly on Origin showed off a Nanosuit-wearing soldier in yet another urban environment. This time, though, he's carrying a bow and arrow.

The leaked Origin entry (via DSO Gaming) also revealed the platforms. Predictably, it's Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

"Stay tuned for more information on April 16," an EA representative told The Verge. We'll have more information then.

I liked Crysis 1, Crysis Warhead was the best, and Crysis 2 was junk. They ruined Crysis 2 but not having quicksave at any time, it was a stupid checkpoint system game save. I totally hate most games that do that, so I hardly went far in Crysis 2 before I switched to playing other games. It wasn't worth the $40 I payed for it. Now if Crysis 3 comes out just like Crysis 2 them I'll only buy it when it's a $10 game.

I conquered and finished Warhead but I got stuck with the VTOL / flying aliens in Crysis 1 - they keep killing me.

I wonder if Crysis 3 will work on my Laptop :/

Anyway , Crysis 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. Actually, I'm going to replay it next month.

C2 save system was the junkiest autosave I have ever seen, it even had bugs that some autosaves were lost all of a sudden  HATE autosaving!!

but I liked C2, especially the early-mid game was crazy good, end was kinda crappy, but still fun enough, even though it was the most linear game ever..

ive enjoyed all the crysis series so far but have to agree about the autosave.

crysis 2 actually p****d me off but it wasnt the actual game it was my 9800GT graphics card which decided to die within 5 minutes of the game going live.
hopefully will have a new laptop by the time its released on pc but my trusty m860tu is still going strong after 4 years.

Crysis 2 was killer... I hope this isn't just a delayed release info trying to hype it up well before its going to be actually ready to go.

Crysis 2 runs super smooth on my laptop.

Crysis 2 looks good even on low settings. Maxed with DX11 is the best of the entire gaming industry. I hope they won't go back to boring jungle maps again.

Looks like trolling to me LOL.
Saying that game is crap because of auto saving problems is stupid. It's your fault that you can't play games.

Anyway, I won't continue this theme

Hope C3 will become same surprise as C2

yeah autosaving was stupid but the game was good enough.. obviously nothing could have beaten Crysis 1, that's like one of a kind, but Crysis 2 was a worthy followup :)

Crysis 2 was a decent game as a standalone but as a sequel, it sucked.
Because they (crytek) developed it for console as well and that console didn't get crysis 1 there was almost no correlation between the two games to even call it a sequel. And the game is so heavy in post processing that its obvious its trying to mask the flaws of having such a beautiful looking game and engine try to run on subpar console hardware

    The worst part was later on when Crytek released a Crysis 1 remake on CryEngine 3 for consoles later on, thus showing that its possible to do it after all. D;

So that probably means we're getting linear gameplay again because the game is made with consoles in mind. The console inclusion might also end up affecting the graphics, like it did with Crysis 2. I still liked Crysis 2, but I really wished for it to not show any signs of being developed for consoles.

guys what graphics are you complaining about (in C2)?? cryengine3 is by far the most sophisticated and imo the best graphics engine out there.. definitely not as revolutionary as cryengine2, but definitely lives up to the standards. and with high res textures and dx11 pack, it is the best looking game for me (including BF3/Metro2033)

I never said that CryEngine 2 is superior to CryEngine 3. It's definitely the other way around. All I'm saying is that the engine would have been utilized better if it hadn't been for consoles. I also believe that what was included in the graphic patches should have been there at release, preferably with an even deeper implementation. Better late than never, so I'm happy they did it, but not everyone played through the campaign once more. I wanted to find a video on YouTube which I had previously seen that showed most parts of the graphics and physics that was superior in Crysis 1 compared to Crysis 2, but I failed. Below is a video that at least shows some of it:

    <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0AzUCbRCvB8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0AzUCbRCvB8?version=3&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='560' height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Please don't get me wrong here. Crysis 2 is a good game with beautiful graphics. I simply wished that the downfall of having it released on consoles would have been less present. Crysis 2 doesn't showcase the power of modern computers as much as Crysis 1 did.

sorry for the misunderstanding, now I totally agree, especially the showcase events of cryengine3 were far superior than crysis 2, yeah that is the bloodied console effect..

    Naturally, business as usual.

It is certainly not the first time, but certainly that the price for Xbox is not 60 bucks.

I did just find out about Crysis 3 today from Facebook since I did add Crysis as what I like and it looks like the same game as Crysis 2 but just having that bow and maybe has some jungle areas in the game. But I wonder if this time there will be a quick save like Crysis did have so I don't have to worry if I get killed right before the checkpoint.

people. HOW CAN YOU DEMAND SPECIAL EFFECTS TO BE LIKE REAL IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE GAME ITSELF TO BE AT LEAST SOMEWHAT MORE REAL?

Or you actually can QuickSave in your life anytime you want?

But maybe the story this time will be totaly different and levels are different from Crysis 2. I was actualy suppried that already Crysis 3 was coming since Crysis 2 is still new to me. Usualy it takes like around 4 years before new ones comes. Sometimes 5 years.

To tell you the truth when I saw Crysis 3 and that bow I first though that they are getting that idea from WoW since I play that game and I' am a human hunter in that game and I can get bow of cource. I do know that WoW is popular game and even Runescape also.

If Crysis 3 looks like the screens that were released with that level of detail, itll be awesome but im still reluctant to purchase it because I paid $60 for crysis 2 and am one of the people who can't play the multiplayer.

A lot of Photoshop, post-concept art in those screenshots.

That being said if crysis3 is anything like it's predecessor I will skip it. Another medicocre, linear console port with an inferior engine than the original to suit the console sheeple.

    I'll pass.

On another note, Path of Exile is looking promising.

    The year is 2047.

We have nanotechnology that allows us to build an armor suit that dramatically improves human performance in terms of speed, power, and endurance, tolerates intense physical damage, possibly self repairs, coordinates its function based on the input of an array of bio-sensors, has a huge amount of energy stored in what be some type of nano-fuel cell technology distributed across the nano-material (presumably there is significantly more energy stored on board than is needed, and the "recharge" time is actually a heat/stability measure, but I digress...)

Choice of weapon? Bow and arrow.

    Thoughts?

According to Crytek, Crysis 3 will be a sandbox style game. Also, CryEngine 3 isn't inferior to CryEngine 2. Crysis 2 was made to be a console focused game, so the graphics weren't as good as Crysis 1. If Crysis 3 focuses on PC in their development I believe that Crysis 3 could have better graphics than Crysis 1.

The Crysis 1 remake on PS3 and Xbox 360 where powered by CryEngine 3 so a sandbox style is possible.
Only think they removed from the remake was the VTOL part before the last mission.
