oye forums failing, here's my post-

    Original issue-
I've noticed games will not run off of my Geforce GT650m graphics card. I can swap the graphics card, and they play fine off of the intel 4000 but as soon as I try and make them play off of the big graphics card, they black screen.
I first noticed this in Arkham City, and about two minutes into the opening cut scene, the game would black screen me. I couldn't figure out what it was caused by, and downloaded a few patches, and found it still cut out at that one part. Thinking that it was caused by it running off of the lesser graphics card, I went into the NVIDIA manager, and changed the settings so as it would run off of the 650m card and when I went to open the game, it instantly black screened.
From there I went to try the other two games I've put on the computer (Oblivion/Crysis/minecraft) and neither would boot up when run off of the NIVIDIA card, only when I used the integrated graphics.

    The temporary solution-
After spending 2 hours on the phone with a very nice man from HP Tech support, I finaly foun a conclusion that would allow all games but Arkham City to play at least half of the time.
This solution was to make the NVIDIA 650m card my 100% of the time GPU, and fiddle with a few other settings. This works well and dandy for the games, but now my computer runs hot at all times, and the fan is never off. Also, now when I open a photo in windows viewer, I get the same 'close window' popup as with the games, but it says 'COM Surrogate has stopped working'. I also get this message sometimes when I attempt to open just normal folders.

    Current situation-
Folders are still crashing, none of my games but Minecraft will open, and the computer could fry an egg.

Any tips out there before I go and spend the night on the phone with HP tech support?

Question have you upgraded your drivers lately to newer versions? Reason is I recently upgraded my Intel Drivers and then my Nvidia Drivers and had this exact same problem. I would up restoring my computer with a factory image and going back to stock drivers to fix this. It's a pain if that's whats wrong. Hope you get it sorted out.

I did indeed update the drivers, and doing so got another hour or so of gameplay out of it. Then it returned to the same issue of - go to open it, nope, won't open.
I tried restarting to stock, and completely removing/reinstalling drivers to no avail >.<

    thanks though!
