I know the game is pretty graphic-wise and the demo was nice, but how is the retail game like gameplay-wise?

Is the whole game the typical Crytek semi-free-form island adventure, or does it turn into the an FPS corridor experience when the aliens come out to play?

How deep is the weapon customization?

In retail, do wound decals show? Is it bloodier than the demo?

    Thanks in advance.

Gameplay wise, is indeed typical outdoor shoot-em-up with the occasional tromp through a small bldg here and there. It doesn't really get corridor-like until you get into the mountain. And as far as weapon customization, you can switch between grenade launcher, sights, etc. but theres not real heavy customization available for weapons. And in reference to wounds and blood, I cant speak for the demo as I went straight for the retail version, but I can assure you its PLENTY bloody. :)

I think the demo and the retail version have the same amount of blood. And no, it's not very corridor like at all as most of the maps are huge! :)
The only corridors are in the mountain and in the aircraft carrier. That was a fun change, though.

Are there a lot of buildings in the retail version?

I made sure to completely level all of them in the demo :p

Well there are villages and small strongholds, not many but a few. This is what I find the game so fun to play. I have played it through, but plays it again.

You have one scenario where there is a huge tank battle and you can just disband the tank and fight on foot etc etc. Graphics is amazing if you can max it out. I run it on both my laptop and my desktop at amazing graphical detail.

Here is three screens of my laptop at 1920x1200 DX9 Very High.

I really hope someone takes this engine and makes a WWII FPS shooter out of it. What amazing battlefields it would be, considering the engine can handle quite large battles with lots of tanks and soldiers involved, thinking about the Onslaught tank battle scenario.

IMO the Operation Flashpoint 2 will bring you what your looking for except it's not the same engine. But still the graphics are awsome!

If you don't think the game is bloody enough, then check out crymod.com Get the dismemberment mod, that allows powerful weapons to decapitate, tear limbs off of people, and an extreme amount of physics based blood.

There are ALOT of custom maps and mods that contain miles upon miles of terrain and new buildings to destroy with thier own objectives and such. Some of the custom user maps I've played are more increadible looking than the ones made by crytek.

Here's a few screenshots of what I'm talking about, now this is a custom map made by someone on Crymod.com that's actually not on an island, it's a desert themed mission. And of course, most of the buildings are fully destructable.

Is there any more destructive effects at different detail levels?

When I play on medium, I get no lag at all. But when I play on high the game sometimes just crashes for no reason.

Physics and particles will change the "destructive effects" quality.

Magnus you just love showing them pics off! :p Very nice!

OFP2 has every weapon and vehicle detailed to the smallest little things you'd never realise, I've also heard you can throw a grenade and blow peoples legs off, hell yes!

Ditto. I thought the gameplay was like any other FPS. I didn't really roam to see how open-ended the maps were though.

Yes, unfortunately, having different settings will actually not only affect the graphics, but also the gameplay. When playing Crysis, the Physics should always be at maximum, Things like the fire simulation also needs the particle effects, and other post processing at maximum, these graphics settings can greatly change the way you play the game.

Because I bought Hitman: Blood Money for download over ebgames.com, and the whole download process is just a pain in the ***.

I am thinking of getting a refund and buying Crysis instead.

My system settings can handle High, but my gfx card is not a gaming card.

Yes Shroomy though it is not for bragging or anything. I am just glad my laptop can push Crysis at such amazing detail.

I don't blame you, it would make many desktop owners who say laptops are useless for gaming die inside!

I'm sure you payed an awful lot, but if Crysis can be so pretty at playable FPS you are pretty much sorted for future games "Rage, Doom 4, Crysis Warhead, STALKER clear sky" :D

Yes actually I am from Sweden. We have a great forum here named sweclockers. Amazingly whenever I post any benchmarks or screenshots they are just ????. What can a laptop do that? That is the desktop users. I am both a desktop and notebook user and I want to have full coverage of both notebook and desktop hardware. Thought most people had that :)
