I do not notice a difference between DX 9 or DX 10, but the game looks so unbelievably awesome.
I have never seen these graphics in a game ever.

ENJOY !!!!
Also some stuff taken from http://www.crysis-online.com/Information/System%20Requirements/
* Crysis will run on both DX9 & DX10 as well as Windows XP and Windows Vista.
* A single 7800GTX will run the game quite well on fairly high settings according to Crysis Art Director, Michael Khaimzon.
* Jack Mamais of Crytek said in an exclusive Crysis-Online interview that his X1900XT runs the game very well at reasonably high settings ( still unoptmized ).
Thats great considering its crysis
Im a newbie but does those points listed above mean Crysis will be able to run on good settings with a 7900 gs in laptop and a 8600m GT in laptop??

Yes it does.

I saw the difference between DX9 and DX10. In the jungle it's mainly lighting effects, but for the hunter video they turned on all kinds of crap.
I'd be curious to see how these differences pan out in actual practice, because there's no way of knowing if DX9 can support these extra settings but they just didn't turn them on.
Either way, holy crap, I am so buying this. -
Holy crap that looks awesome!!
What is Crysis's expected release quarter / date? -
Now that I look closer I can notice a difference, the sun rays are much more lifelike in DX 10 rather than just bright spots like in DX 9
But I noticed that after much looking and observing carefully, no way would I have noticed that I was actually playing the game trying to kill the enemies.
Anyway
Expected Release Date is
9/4/2007 (american date format) -
The Hunter difference is pretty big, I think. Looks amazing.

God! The most important thing is that the story is good, else it fails...
Btw, first post! -

First service pack for vista is due around that time so shouldnt be a problem.
btw what would you recommend, me to go buy 7900 gs + 4200 rpm hd + intel core 2 duo 2.0ghz
or to wait and buy 8600M GT + 5200 rpm hd + intel santa rosa core 2 duo 2.0ghz
which one would be best for gaming -
On another note.. i hope it runs decently with my go 6600 -

kk kewl
I hope during my waiting time, better 8 series mobile cards are available -

I dont think it will run on an Go 6600. Or they should have it optimalized very good, like UT2004 for example. I am personally going to upgrade for this game.
-
well if it is dx9 compatible i dont see a reason the 6600 couldnt run it. If not though, i can always upgrade to a go 7600 via mxm slot
-
Havent you guys noticed that everything looks more organic (movements, environment, enemies, etc.) in the DX10 jungle video? Everything looks static in the DX9 version.
-
Well for the people waiting for the 8600M cards for notebooks you have to consider that these videos are maxed out on both sides. You can max out Crysis on a high end dx9 GPU such as the 7950 GTX which is available for lappies but you can't max it out on a mid 8600M.
In my opinion maxxed out with 7950 GTX on dx9> medium settings with 8600M on dx10. Plus the high end dx9 card will be able to play games such as BF2142 better. -
During the wait there will be benchmarks available for the 8600M GT and we shall be able to see how well it performs in games. If it performs great I will go ahead and buy a laptop with the 8600M GT, but if it performs worse then the 7900gs I will buy a laptop with the 7950 GTX which would have gotten cheaper by that time.
Also hopefully till August I hope the 8700M GT will be available to buy or better DX 10 mobile cards.
In my opinion my advice to those looking to buy a laptop should wait a while, new tech such as santa rosa and DX 10 cards are just around the corner.
On a side note, how much does the cheapest laptop with a 7950 GTX, core 2 duo and 2GB ram cost? -
I bought the M1710 from dell for about $2800 with a 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo.
By the time high end dx10 GPUs come out and games that use dx10 to the max I will have saved enough money to buy a new notebook. The thing is that you can always wait for something new to come out, there will always be something new to wait for. -
Damn it im back at where I started now, finally had made my mind to wait till August, but it seems so far lol -
By then the 8600M will be available from all manufacturers, but then the 8700M may not be out and you might want to want to wait for that or if it's out you'll hear a rumour about the 8800M coming out so you'll wait endlessly for that. Just buy the damn thing now.
-
another question, will the DX 10 games be only DX 10 compatible or can they be run with DX 9 cards
well need to find a lappy with the 7950 for around 1500 euros lol -

DirectX 10 code can only be executed on DirectX 10 hardware.
-
omg! omg! omg!
Cant wait to get a better laptop to play this!!!
What can be expected with T7300, 2GB RAM and a 8600GT? medium/high @ xga? -
Chaz is very right, we can never know how it will run, but we soon shall.
There is a lot of speculation but nothing concrete
You and I will just have to wait one or two more weeks
Argh the waiting is just killing me, I could just go buy a lappy with 7900gs card but im staying put till I get some reviews of the 8600M GT when members from this forum get their laptops equipped with the card -

Note that many upcoming games are likely to have both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 versions to appeal to a wider audience. -

i agree nbaumann... the 6 series are still pretty decent, and i dont see a reason to upgrade.
