hey all
first off i have an Asus n61jq-a1 and absolutely love it
i7 720 qm
ATI 5730
4gb RAM
1366x768
but
im having an issue
I downloaded the crysis demo and installed it and i get a black screen when i try to open it..and i cant do anything (open task manager, mouse wont work, etc.) i know this machine can handle crysis....why isnt it working??
my first thought is a bad download? if someone could link me to a good installer or demo site thatd be awesome though other ideas are welcome....thank you

How long have you waited? Crysis tends to do that sometimes.
-
i just thought of this....do i have direct x 9 or 10? or how could i check and could this be the problem?
-
It does that to me every now and then, while mine is on retail.
You could also force DX9 I guess. -
You have Windows 7, so DirectX shouldn't be an issue.
Have you updated your graphics drivers? (yes, even a new laptop may need a GPU driver update) -
I don't know what causes it though. -
A lot of the time it does the same to me, but clicking on the screen after a minute or so usually gets it running.

Crysis never loads really well on the first run. Even when it does, the button boxes don't coincide with the background until I change the resolution.

i pretty much have the same machine and when I tried running it I'd click shortcut and nothin then went into 64bin folder tried from there it said my comp was missing a dll file which i downloaded and installed but to no avail. i went into folder went to 32bin and clicked on crysis there only to go thru intro then it would freeze just before gameplay would start. did it a few times and same thing same spot. very annoying im downloading again fingers crossed. wats the deal with the comp missing a dll file?
