Here is an updated version of the guide with better and more detailed instructions:

    Ask for any questions here

    1. Make a "Mods" folder in : [.../Electronic Arts/Crytek/Crysis WARHEAD]

    2. Make a "Crysis" folder in the "Mods" folder

    3. Go into the Crysis Directory : [.../Electronic Arts/Crytek/Crysis]

    4. Copy the ENTIRE folder called "Game", and put it into the "Crysis" folder you made in the "Mods" folder of your Warhead game.

    5. Go into the warhead directory. Find this folder : [...Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis WARHEAD\Game\Localized]

    6. Rename "Localized" ( Call it "Warhead_Localized" )

    7. Go into your Crysis directory, and find this folder : [...\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Game\Localized]

    8. Copy the "Localized" folder, and paste it into the Warhead "game" folder.

( This is the folder that holds all the sounds )

    9. Find the Crysis WARHEAD shortcut Icon [MAKE ONE IF YOU DONE HAVE ONE].

    10. Right click it, and click "properties".

    11. The first line should say "Target" and then the directory. ( The directory should end in "...Bin32\Crysis.exe" )

Add -Mod Crysis to the end of it.

It should now look like: "...Bin32\Crysis.exe" -Mod Crysis

    12. Launch the game.

DO NOT CLICK NEW GAME, THIS WILL START THE WARHEAD MISSIONS.

    13. Open console with the [~] key, and type in the following : con_restricted = 0

    14. In console type : map Island

This will start the SP game, and it will work just like Warhead / Crysis works. It makes Saves, etc.

    Enjoy!

IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WARHEAD AGAIN

    1. Rename "Localized" "Crysis_Localized", and then re-name "Warhead_Localized" "Localized".

    2. Remove the -MOD Crysis from the icon, and your back in warhead

    PERFORMANCE BENCHMARKS

I did a quick test with FRAPS to monitor my min/max/average framerates of Crysis running on its own and Warheads engine.

My PC is as follows :

    T9300 2.53GHZ CPU
    4gig DDR2 800Mhz RAM
    1x 8800m GTS OC to 625 925 1550
For this test i loaded up the first level 'Contact' and messured the framerate from the second the first cut-scene starts and ended it the second Nomad hit the water on the beach..

    Crysis - Contact - Original Engine - High Settings : Min 20fps Max 49fps Average 36fps

    Crysis - Contact - Warhead Engine - High Settings : Min 25 Max 54 Average 40fps

And Warheads version of 'high' ( Gamer ) enables more then effects then Crysis's 'high'

More performance coupled with more eye candy

Results from benchmarks may vary depending on your rig

    Enjoy

Nope, can't use Warhead's shaders with it, so I put back Crysis 1's shader folders.

    Still runs far better though.

The AI doesn't seem to have adopted the changes in intelligence however... hmm...

I am running this with CCC 2.21 lvl4 in Crysis 1's files. :) Looks great.

That sounds awesome, +rep, subscribed, :D

Hopefully this will grow in popularity, if EA doesn't squash it, and it won't do any damage (corrupt files) to other Crysis (original) files :p

it wont do damage if you can do the step backwards.

It looks and runs like warhead. If you can bring some of the .pak files that have the same name as the crysis ones it will work too. like the warhead textures shaders etc.

nope same shaders actually, the 9800m GTS is basically an overclocked 8800m GTS which is found in the 6860FX.

Very cool! 4-5 FPS increase! :D

I kinda need a new game anyway, maybe I will pick up Warhead play through it, then play through the original Crysis with a better engine and a higher FPS.

    Thanks for the guide rot112!

roosta. Crysis Warhead is alot better than part 1. I highly reccomend you go out and play it. You will not be dissapointed. It has alot of action and plays alot smoother than the first one. And it is a lot more action while still allowing you to make your own choices.

So drew did you try out the tweak.

Ok so I'm about to try this (having found a config over at crymod.com that allows me to have a lot of the eye candy and decent fps, albeit in a res of 1024x640, any higher and it's so laggy it's unplayable on my rig.) and I'm wondering if I can start the Crysis Island Map from an autoexec.cfg rather than having to type it in the console to start the game?

Also once I've saved a Crysis game does it just load as normal without any problems or do I have to type map island in the console and then load my save?
