So i installed the Crysis demo on my new 1520(1.83 core 2, 1gb ram, 8600gt) and have attempted running it twice now. The first time i tried to run it it loaded up it got to the 7 days later opening cutscene and totally locked up. The next time i tried to run it, it took FOREVER to load up(?) i got a little past the 7 days later cutscene, then the screen turned yellow, and got brighter and brighter yellow, and then of course, it crashed

Is having 1gb ram really hurting my laptop THAT much? Why did my screen turn yellow? surely that cant be the RAM...

any help would be MUCH appreciated

YEs it does. Gaming with newer games requires 2 gigs to run properly. Also, if you`re running Vista, that makes things even worse,performance-wise.
Nowadays RAM is utterly cheap. You can get 4 gigs from newegg.com for as low as 90 bucks shipped. (PQI Ram)

The amount of RAM should never cause it to lock up or crash. It should just run very slowly as it uses the pagefile constantly.

It may run into problems if you've disabled the pagefile, or manually set its size too small. But then you're just asking for trouble. (Have you done either of those?)

Otherwise, it's... something else that's causing it to fail. (But you'll probably still need more than 1GB to run it smoothly even when you fix the crashing issues)

no i havent disabled pagefile or set the size to too small, i havent touched any of settings on my laptop, i just got it yesterday.

What could possibly be the cause of the weird yellow screen tho? could my video card be failing?

Have you tried installing the latest video driver from laptopvideo2go.com?

if you are using stock dell drivers that's probably why. Definitely update it and you should see an improvement.

    1. "I just got it yesterday", so I am implying that you haven't reinstalled your OS have you?

    2. Vista, if that's what you are using, requires 2GB of ram to run without error. 3+ to run smooth as a baby's bottom.

    3. Like mmk1125/Cinner said, update to the most current Nvidia driver (via laptopvideo2go.com/forum).

Crysis + 1 GB of RAM = Negative FPS FTL

I'd like to see your FRAPS video while playing online.

I think that is more of the game itself. There are numerous reports (including myself) regarding graphical issues with Crysis.

If you use the built in command for Fps and other infos, it shows RAM usage. I haven't got time for the retail but I did tried out the demo which was using around 900+ mb of RAM all together; therefore, one gig is definitely not enough.

1 gig is enough for my old desktop with p4. I can run gears of war on medium with no lag, I can run Call of Duty on High.

Crysis is in a different class. Its not the standard.

When you are running at a high resolution, you'll need more ram..

2GB is plentiful for XP, but a must for Vista.

In the benchmark, RAM useage hovered around 800-900MB @ 1280x800. So 2GB will definitely help!
