Just make sure you set it to DX9 mode, because its like 3x slower in DX10 mode.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
does it look better than crysis medium? screenshots?
-
So the "optimization" of the cry engine 2 DOES make a difference... ?
I played the original Crysis on my G1S and I was disappointed actually.
And is your 8600M GT overclocked? -
The optimization only seems to be affecting certain systems.
-
yea on my laptops hd 3650, i run it at 1280x800 mainstream, with game effects and water on gamer, and get ~30fps
-
yea i have the same card, and i noticed a huge performance increase aswell. I find the game funner to play through than the first crysis, more action and funner killing the koreans.
Gamer settings are still unplayable though, I think i get like 10fps
also you should try some crysis configs with warhead they seem to work quite a bit better than the first crysis, I got it looking like enthusiast and a framerate of about 18-25 fps..kinda playableI just lower the rez and play in window mode so that its just as crisp as native rez..
Overall I hated the short ending, they shoulda had some epic ending movie, but instead we got a black screen and some nonsence dialog..still not sure what crysis is about, one of the worst plots in a video game iv'e seen in 15 years, I think mindsweeper has a more interesting story, as it does not have one and therefore cannot be a bad one like warhead.
And to answer your question, Im pretty sure hes overclocking his card, but still even with crysis the original overclocking only added like 2 -5fps, in this i get 6-10 fps more...so i guess they didnt lie about optimizing the engine.
And does anyone have a Very High config for warhead yet, cant seem to find one. CCC 1.2 seems to run at 1 level higher and 1 step up in rez at the same framerates as crysis the original, but i think the config looks like crap, kindy lacking high detail and looks cartoony. -
Medium (mainstream) settings = not very nice.
There's no HDR with shaders set to medium and that sucks. I use a custom config @1280x720, the same I use for normal Crysis. It has HDR with nice texture detail, character detail and FX - but limited draw distance and objects. -
On my 8700M GT the Warhead runs better than the first Crysis...
Vista x64
ForceWare 179.92
DX10 mode@1280x768
All settings on Gamer
AA and AF to x0
FPS avrg 24, max 38, min 16 on explosions
On the ice levels I need to lower some of the settings to archieve playable FPS.
I think it´s not bad for an 1 year old medium range card...
-
Pretty good for these GPUs.
-
yeah it is muich better optimized. I can max at my native res, 1440x900 now with a few hiccups sometimes.
Before I could get steady framerates at 1024x768 on just high. -
Some people with higher end cards need to chill out. I see a lot of complaining on the high end card optimization issue, or lack there of. I see a slight boost but it seems like the optimization was to allow a better experience for mid-high range cards in particular. I think this thread supports this fact.

so im assuming ill run this game ok with my ATI 2600HD? or do u guys think i should OC the gpu, oh btw my laptop is undervolted as well
-
Not you, or anyone in this thread I don't think. I'm just referring to people like this random dude posting on the Alienware forums QQing about a lack of optimization.
And that's not entirely true either. I get higher FPS when I run 1440x900 DX10 Warhead over same settings/resolution in Crysis. -
How can I check if my 8600 GT is DDR3? I have 2 8600 GTs in SLI but for some reason they play like **** on most games; I tried playing Assassin's Creed and I couldn't put max settings ( I didn't put max resolution) because it lagged pretty badly. So yea, is there anyway to improve my card's performance and how do I know if its DDR3? Thanks for your help.

About oh, 4 hours ago I reformatted my computer. I have an Alienware MX17 ( yes it has dual graphic card configuration) Here is a screenshot proving it does:
Should I make my resolution less on my computer? By going to Control Panel on vista and such? Would that help any? -
To be honest i didn't knew Alienware had a Dual 8600 confg... I know it has dual 8700 and 8800, but anyway... If that is the case i'm pretty sure they are GDDR3 because i don't see alienware using the ddr2 version (low performance)... Anyway you can use GPU-Z if you wanna be 100% sure...
Now with the lack of performance... Just update drivers, use 1 of the latest from the 175, 176 or 177 series (i like 177.92 and 175.80) from laptopvideo2go.com...
Other thing, the windows resolution have nothing to do with in game performance... Just leave the windows resolution at your native, and change the resolution directly in games if you see low performance... (Till now all of my games, except for crysis, run perfectly at 1400x900) -
Thanks so much for your help JosePerez, I did what you told me and now I'm able to run most games at 1920x 1200 with EVERYTHING maxed out without even a little bit of lag. =]
-
- I didn't know 2*8600's were able to max things out at 1920*1200, but kudos to you. -
with Ryan's config files, I managed to boost my fps by 15!!! get them, seriously!
-
screenies from my G1S:
I can't believe this game runs so well on my paltry laptop! Nice -
Who's Ryan and where are these settings?
EDIT: Never mind, I looked up a couple of threads and I found it (the mega-long Crysis Warhead thread). -
-
This is great news, I can't wait to buy the game then. Any news if this engine will be released for the original crysis in a patch or re-release?
-
-
I doubt that they'll fix Crysis, but I wish they would because I would love to be able to play it without wanting to scratch my eyes out...
-
-
wow, I HAVE to find out how to get Crysis 1 to run this well.
-
so will crytek put out a patch for crysis to make it run like warhead any time soon ?
-
Thanks -
When you run the game from the vista game explorer, right-click on the game and choose 'PlayDX9'.
Otherwise, add -dx9 to crysis.exe in properties-screen. -

No problem by the way
Crysis Warhead runs well on the 8600m GT DDR3!
