Four Years Later, Crysis Comes to Console
Check out the trailer.
As someone who has played the game to death on the PC, I think I'll give it a rental on a 360 to check it out.
I do feel miffed that now that the console gamers get the original game, why did they change so many story elements in the sequel? Why not set the game directly after the first one? And I'm also miffed as a PC gamer that we keep losing exclusives, how about getting some from the consoles, like Gears of War 2?![]()

Will it run in Crysis 2 engine or simply run on low-med settings?
Actually I would like some games from the consoles ... but Gear or War 2? I can think of many better games to ask first: Metal Gear Solid 4, Heavy Rain, Red Dead Redemption, etc. -
Halo 3 please.
Anyway, it will probably run on CryEngine 3. -
Crysis 1 is the only proper Crysis game.
They changed so much in Crysis 2 it felt more like a spinoff that a proper sequel.
They killed of the survivors of the first game, made the aliens red and removed their need for subzero temps to survive.
Also their flying robots kicked a**.
Hopefully they include Warhead and Crysis Wars too, that would be awesome.
I might even rebuy (not full price ofc) just to get achievements / trophies. -
It's going to be running off of the Cryengine 3. The only exciting thing I can think of about this is that maybe this game can be remade for the PC using Cryengine 3. Since it's a much more optimized engine, it would be cool to see how well it would run on PC's.
The lighting is much better in Crysis 2, than the original, which is due to the improvements in the new engine. I've read many devs saying that the lighting is one of the single biggest contributors to the entire scene looking good.
I can only imagine how phenomenal the original Crysis could look with the lighting capabilities of Cryengine 3.
I'm fortunate enough that my pc can handle the original with everything turned to max, and still run pretty well so, if a remake for the pc never happens, no big loss.
Thoughts? -
CryEngine 3 is garbage. I don't think anyone needs help picking out which one of these is running on an Xbox 360 and CryEngine 3. And I know it's difficult to tell, but this is the same location for both pics.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything about cryengine 3. Those differences are clearly not just related to the engine. They changed the models and drastically reduced the complexity of the scene. Both engines are modular enough to adjust all sorts of detail in terms of lighting and object quality, etc. In this case they lowered the settings forthw target hardware. The real test is to get both engines to run through a scene and produce transparent output and check the frame rate.
Tl;dr the differences in those screenshots are related to the xbox vs pc hardware. To really understand the difference between the engines v2 and v3 (running behind the scenes, you don't SEE the engine) you need to do more research. -

Nice but...how do you expect to aim with a controller?

I think the only PC exclusives Ive ever seen are indie games that can't afford to make it to consoles
I know it sounds selfish and immature, but consoles get so many exclusives and pc's get none! its so unfair! *stamps feet* -
Might see some quality reductions because of the game being a XBLA release.
Microsoft enforces a 2gb limit on Xbox Live while PSN is more freely with their filesize restrictions, probably also why we got Steam there. :3
Unless they release it as a "Games on Demand", that way they bypass the restriction.
Probably gonna cost around 20 USD from what i gathered. -
Man
I could care less.
ours looks amazing,
Theres is LOL
And they had to wait.
So i dont care. -
Meh...Crysis2 (obviously developed a LONG time for the consoles) runs at 24-27FPS on "average" (going even lower and higher). It's a night and day difference from the console to the PC.
Crysis original will be very HARD to run on consoles due to the hardware (not the engine). The console will NOT be able to be that OPEN and that destructible without sacrificing vegetation and other physics elements the PC game had in 2007 due to the RAM and bandwidth of the PC. Remember, at that time, the 8800GTX and CPU's on PC's were MUCH more powerful and that GPU couldn't run Crysis on Max; even in SLI. Hell my 2720 and CF 6970 OC can't handle the last level max (that is just bad optimization that never got fixed). I guarantee that port will be nothing like the PC original just due to the complexity of that game. Sure crysis2 has good post-processing and lighting (something very easy to optimize on consoles). However, an open world, 50 different ways to destroy a compound, a truly functional nanosuit (I don't know how they will do that with a controller)......lol. Gimme a break. We aren't losing an exclusive. It's just a crappy port that will be so watered down...but with better "lighting."
Thank god I love consoles AND PC's. I will happily play Halo REACH on controller as that game and all it's maps are MADE for consoles in mind. That game would suck on PC just like Halo 2 did (I am a big Halo Fan). I will happily play MK9 and fighting games only on consoles and keep my FPS/RPG to PC. Now Platformers...Uncharted and God of War....that COULD be sweet on PC. Keep dreaming though -
I agree, UC/GoW/inFamous are some great games and would be awesome on PC, I played the crap out of the UC2 MP until the 1.5 patch, God of War just felt kind of awesome (I'm also a myth geek, so I know about every single god/monster, Roman, Greek, Egyptian, etc), and inFamous was my favorite open-world game I've ever played, but unfortunately we'll probably never see them on PC.

I play nothing but platformers. Single player, with good story. If you know any good ones, PM me
On topic: The graphics on the consoles are gonna SUUUUUUUCK.
Mr. Mysterious -
This is a bit of an inflammatory thread isn't it, posting a console-related news on a PC forum.

Well I think most of us have consoles too. I definitely prefer PC. ONLY (for the most part so I guess MOST) games on PC can be played to DEATH. I mean CS:S came out in 2004 and that is my GO game to frag and listen to tunes. L4D2....Survival alone has hundreds of hours played. I am definitely an FPS junkie on the PC. But since most great exclusive platformers (IMO) that come out on consoles, I will play them. Fighting games are best on consoles. Some FPS are really good on consoles (HALO series). I am a very good Halo 3 and REACH player (top levels) and it is completely mapped and made for a console. Consoles definitely have their place and am awaiting the "next gen" as they will be some BEASTS....in the beginning of course

I like them all equal. I'm a multi-platform gamer A.K.A a true gamer.

Well, Crytek is doing one thing right by pricing it at $20 and making it a downloadable title. I will probably pick it up for my PS3 just so I can make some comparisons; and Crysis is ALWAYS fun to screw around in.
-
I like my 360 for playing games when people come over, but I do not like playing FPSes on it.

Crysis coming to 360/PS3 October 2011!
