I just downloaded the SP demo and am having serious FPS problems, which I think with my specs I shouldn't be having. Got it on 1200x1024 no AA and medium settings and I'm getting 3-5 FPS?? I don't see any where in the settings in-game where I can toggle SLi so I'm thinking it might have something to do with that. But I had to turn everything to low to get it to run smoothly. Is it the demo not taking advantage of SLi? I should be able to run this thing pretty smoothly!

Even if only using ONE 8700 your framerate should be alot higher at those settings. That's all the input I can give unfortunately.

I've got the latest 169.04 forceware which was made for Crysis. Well the physics card is so far pretty useless but I believe in the future of it ;) (I have to!9

Try turning shaders & shadows to low & see what happens. Those 2 hit me pretty hard...even then, your problem is probably more than settings. Before you go in game, turn off as many programs/services as possible? (or systematically turn them off to isolate what may be the problem)

Are you running this is Vista?

Did you apply the hotfixes so Vista doesn't do stupid things with your memory?
    Compatibility fixes - KB938194
    Memory - KB940105
    Performance - KB938979
    Stability - KB941649

When I get home from work I'll try and play with the settings and check the hotfixes! Thanks guys. Also, I heard rumours that the demo only utilizes 1 core out of the to processing cores... If thats true, then that will definantly also have an impact!

Don't worry, if it was only using one core and that is ur problem, then think about every other laptop user out there which is getting great framerates on dual cores clocked at half ur speed. No matter what, CPU wont be the problem. Are you only experiencing problems with Crysis or with other games aswell?

perhaps direct x 10 mode is struggling?? Ive heard this from others before ... even top end cards cant cope with the hudge advances of direct x 10 so you could perhaps turn it off... See if that helps the fps

A SINGLE 8700GT can do better than what he is seeing with a lesser system behind it as well.

    Even in DX10.

    Something isn't working right.

Well I only have GRAW2 installed on it, and can't seem to get into options (crashes) so I can't do any testing on that. But I'm doing pretty good in FSX. And am getting 8550 in 3dmark06 with the 169.04. Would have like a little more though.

As far as i know the demo does not support SLI at all, and only uses 1 core on dual core CPUs. Plus running it in DX10 mode is buggy and slow on any card.

Try running in DX9 instead for now, and lets hope for a better demo soon.

Well i was running it @ 1280x with Medium Detail on everything. It was more than playable. But only in DX9. DX10 seems to slow the game down badly and didnt make the graphics look any better. It is a pre-release demo so i guess you cant expect too much.

Well I just played CoD4 with 1600x900 and everything almost to max with no hassle at all! Nice to know this thing can handle it ;)
