Hey guys,
I'm the proud owner of an m9750 (specs in sig). I've just got Crysis for Christmas and am still trying to figure out best setting to play it in. I've used 'optimum settings' which forces it to 'medium' in 1024x780 but I'm still only getting like 20 fps which is damn near unplayable.
Can anyone help out?

I made a topics speaking about Crysis Tweaks. -
I will try it out -
660/1200/500 was kinda high, think to reduce all those frequencies, at the moment, 590 & 490 is enought, I'm searching for a better way to overclock, using voltage modif. ect... Good luck
-
i don't really want to go overclocking things - i'm pretty suye my system is capable of a steady 30-40 fps, i was just wondering if you knew any in game modifications I should make.
What's intersting is it doesn't seem to matter what resolution i have it on - it will play at about 50 fps for 10 minutes then it will drop dramatically to near unplayable. very strange. -
The only things is: i got a GDDR3 8600M GT, i overclocked it myself and on this moment my clock settings are:
575/1425/827
I think this is also a MAX. overclock (right)? -
I wouldn't overclock either with such a laptop -
Try turning off SLI and see if performance improves! I hear that SLI is resulting in lowered performance in some cases. Crysis just needs to keep rolling out the patches.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
yeah agreed.
dont freak out and wait for a patch... -
i get about the same performance with sli off as i do with it on - very strange. any other suggestions?
also found ...
Does crysis not support sli atm, and hence why one card is as good as two? -
OK - it's definately not the rigs fault. Here's the deal ...
Loaded a custom CFG, getting a constant 60 fps out of it - nice and smooth, 1024x768 res, not the sharpest detail but this can all be fixed later. As it stands, very playable, very nice.
After about 5 minutes of playing it drops down to usual 12 - 15 fps. I can't understand why it would do this. If I restart the game, bang, back up to 60fps for 5 minutes, then right back down again. If I reload the map it stays at 12 - 15 fps. Any ideas? Memory leak maybe?
Cheers! -
brks, try the newer drivers
-
Is the updated/same driver installed to both video cards?? Is the game patched?
It does sound like a memory leak or something... -
i'm loathed to update the gfx card drivers - i've just got the buggers working with out nv4_disp.dll bsod's and black outs lol!
Seriously though I suppose I should to rule the drivers out at least. I think it could be an overheating issue - maybe the cards cutting back every now and then because the game runs in peaks and troughs. Fast then 3-4 mins of slow then fast again followed by slow. Either way it's pretty pants! -
So this is probably the reason why crysis runs fine for like 5 minutes and then bottoms out - look at the memory useage (and the GPU temps, more the mem useage) ...

For comparison, CoD:4 never hit above 61% memory useage and 92C.
Thoughts? -
When you say it slows down does it almost stutter? Thats what mine would do. I think I read somewhere in the sager section that it took 4 gigs of ram to stop the stuttering.
-
not stuttering so much - it just goes right down to like 10 fps, which is just stupid for a first person shooter. Trying to follow guys around the screen shooting them from 20-30 meters is like trying to catch a fly with chopsticks whilst repeadtly blinking. Crap.
I'm assuming it's a memory issue, because I can run it on the lowest of the low settings in 800x600 resolution and I still get the same problem. Then again should the game really be using 2gbs of ram under XP when it says it only needs 1gb min to run? -
The problem goes away slightly if you use it in windowed mode. Pretty sure its a memory issue and since we are limited to 2.5gb of ram we may never get it fixed ; ;.
-
When u hit up to 91 percent, is there alot of action on the screen, or is it just calm as usual, it seems like eaither an aplication in the back ground is usuing alot of memory, or just not enough memory or both
also could be that the crytek engine is poorly coded -
Problems for me are in the larger areas, like the tank level. It still happens in the in door areas, but not nearly as much.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
seriously- wait for a patch.
-
I bought Crysis when it released awhile back, but I've stopped playing it until a patch is released. Has there been any mention of a speculated date patch release? Also, where would one go to updates on current Crysis info?
-
Worth a read: http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=50512
I hope this patch rolls out a shed load of optimizations. The memory useage is just crazy and I'm not playing a game this good through on minimum settings and still only getting 10-20 fps. The engine obviously needs some heavy work if my rig can't deal with it in the said frame.
