Ok... I am TOTALLY confused

EA and Gamestop just called me about picking up my Crysis game since its coming out

Some please tell me when the date really is? Im not driving 25 minutes down and back up just to see if its true... Maybe I get it a day or two earlier? yay! With the first 8800gtx lappie lol drewling on my HP... which is proably going to short circuit in a minute

Anyways... what are your expectations and your benchmarks etc... to those who are getting it tomorow or whenever... and to those lucky b@st@rds who already have it.

Make sure you get the newest drivers from LV2G (169.09). I noticed a significant difference for the better (in the demo anyway).

 

Crysis got amazing reviews, gamespot rated it a 9.5 and said it was one of the best shooters ever made!

 

If only EBGames would allow me to pick up my game down in Philly. . .

I reserved it back in my home town, so I suppose I'll have to wait until I go back for another visit. I'll just have my brother pick it up in the meantime, since I've already paid for Crysis and UT3 in full.

 

I've seen many users playing the retail version. It looks rather promising. Though, it's still hardware demanding on higher settings.

I called gamestop on Sunday and they said both the game and sp. edition will be available on the 13th. I don't know why they get it 3 days ahead of listed release date; if anything my experience is having to wait to get the game till one day after the actual release date b/c it takes a day for shipments to arrive at stores.

works out for those people dying to get this game. im waiting till thanksgiving to get the game; got too much crap to do right now. oh well, patience is a virtue...

 

actually dont the stores get the game copies a couple of days before release? and then on release day they...well...release it?

Just about every Sunday ad this week said it's coming out Wednesday the 14th (today). Best Buy, Circuit City, GameStop... everyone will have it on shelves today.

Just check any of his threads proclaiming the "awesome power" of his gma950.

 

Crysis = FarCry with better graphics. I dont understand why the developer LOVES tropical island setting so much...mix it up alittle.

 

tropical islands are the most open way of making a game without creating unrealistic boundaries.

I love it, and it's NOT farcry. When in farcry could you cripple a building ?

 

well i'm playing at 1280x768 coz i don't have monitor.(i'm playing in my lcd tv)
anti-aliasing-4 and rest of all very high.run very smooth.can some one tell me how to test game fps and take screen shot?
yes there is one option optiml settings(auto optimize your system) are you talking about this?optimal?

 

the m15x and m17x will have 8800gtx... its rather unconfirmed but im sure it will happen... if it doesnt think of how many people will flip out because they cant play crysis on a laptop on high/very high settings...

I wasnt BSing Garrys mod is proven to work like a charm on gma950...

Anways... im letting my mom pick the game up for me because I cant go downntown until saturday... =/ hopefully it will work on my gma950 on extreme low settings with no shadaows and physx etc... then on 19th (drewl) im buying m15x if the price jumps from 1399 to something higher I will kill myself

 

Absolutely no credibility since Beatsiz didn't even bother putting up proper screenshots with the fps when boasting about the GMA950 performance in Far Cry.

Must be thanksgiving lull in his school since the spam count seems to have risen over the last 2 days.

Wait 2 or 3 years for a laptop to play Crysis maxed out, the vast majority of desktops are currently struggling with high settings with DX10 Vista.

Hey, for anybody that has it and might have tried, I'm confused on SLI support in Crysis.... over on the gamepot forums, they're convinced it doesn't support SLI, but when I run the demo (picking up my retail copy this afternoon hopefully) I get the SLI indicator bar and performance is good.... so what gives? Any ideas? They all say that it requires a future patch and a driver update.... thank ya

 

Apparently the 169.09 drivers add SLI support for Crysis. Perhaps that's how it's working for you in the demo since I've read that SLI doesn't work for the Crysis Demo.

"Congratulations" I'm sure you're currently admiring the fancy box art since you really can't do anything else without a system that can actually run it.

You were told how to do proper screenshots on that thread and how to save them. You were also told that the game had to be restarted before new quality settings could take it, as it turned out "tomorrow" for you never came since you decided to duck and hide while everyone was ready to flay and dismember you alive for boasting and exaggerating your video card capabilities. You must really be enjoying your thanksgiving lull with the lack of homework and chores...

You are not the only one who has Crysis retail on this forum and frankly I couldn't care less if people got this game today or next year since I'm not interested in it.

 

I am trying to get it to run! I get to the screen and stuff but then my computer keeps switching to desktop becausethe overlay is over riden because my windows defense is screwing up because its asking for a 750mb update... I will call windows to check then ill dl it and by tomorow youll know If i run it

Why? It's pretty obvious console gaming is much more profitable and frankly better than PC gaming. :\

Except the more profitable part. I haven't exactly done research but I know Halo 3 outsold any PC game.

If you want my opinion, I love console and PC gaming! Give me my 1520, a 360, and a wii and my heart will be fulfilled.

I already saw it on the shelves of my local Futureshop, and the guy stocking it was even advertising it (since my friend went to pick up Gears of War).

After seeing and playing the demo on Very High (played it on 8800GTX at a friend's. Man, even with that GPU, the FPS were dipping into the 20's sometimes), I'd have to agree. It does NOT live up to hype, IMO.

I mean, the suit modding and on-the-fly gun tweaks are cool and all, but they're just gimmicks that got old really fast... Not to mention, do I care that you can mow down inanimate TREES? Uh... let me think about it for a minute... NO!

EDIT: To those that own Crysis and have tried it on their laptops:
Does it run significantly (and by "significantly", I mean at least a 10-15% increase in FPS) than the "unoptimized" demo?

That's a good question, how many copies did WoW actually sell through RETAIL?

I'm pretty sure a lot of people downloaded the demo, played it, and simply continued their subscription and don't actually have the physical game.

Anyways, Halo 3 isn't even a good example... Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the PS2 sold a HECK of a lot more (20 Million copies). Even assuming every single one of the 9 million subscribers of WoW bought their game in retail, they're still 11 million copies short of toppling the current console game sale record holder...

 

Already noted this in another thread, but I'll say it again just to make a point: performance in the first level of the final game is identical to that of the demo, and some other levels are even more taxing on your machine. This is just in my experience, so I can't say it's true across the board. YMMV, etc, etc.

don't know if anyone has mentioned this already as i don't have time to read through all the posts but

Gamestope and EBgames sometimes sell games a day earlier than the marked released date to those who reserved them. Call of Duty4 was available to those who preordered a day earlier than the scheduled release date.

 

The retail version is better optimized than the demo version, though not by very much, but it´s noticable. I´m able to play Very High shaders, all options Very High except Shadows High and Post Processing High on my desktop 8800GTX.

It runs really good on my Core2Duo and 8800GTX, both overclocked of course

 

the only disssapointment i have with this game is multiplayer. the whole concept and sequence of events is boring. oh well, sp was definitely worth it. this is basically the same type of game as farcry, odd they didnt even just call it farcry 2... even more weird is that there is a farcry 2 coming out next year... MOST LIKELY we'll be going back to another island for the third time

Crytek sold their Farcry franchise rights to another company so they lost the right to call Crysis Far Cry 2. Another developer is currently working on Far Cry 2.

For all the Crysis owners out there do check out gamespot's hardware performance guide for the game. I've always found that their guides do a good choice in helping novice gamers find the best settings for hardware demanding games. It's not on par with the tweakguides hardware performance guide but it's less technically verbose and you can judge the visual qualities with the screenshots they post.

 

Far Cry 2 is set in Africa and looks as good as Crysis.

 

True, Far Cry 2 is looking great. I really like that it's one big world, like Oblivion.

 

Yeah, I am still more excited about FC2 than crysis.
