Just wanted to show everyone how Crysis(demo) ran on ALL settings on HIGH, at 800x600 resolution.

It averaged at 18 FPS, with rare dips to 9-10 FPS, and rare spikes to 24-26 FPS.

    Note- Running on:
    XPS M1530
    T7500
    3GB RAM[
    8600M GT OC'ed at 600/1200/900
    250GB WD

Sorry for all the links, but here:

I think the demo sucks, cuz I run the game with everything on high except shaders and shadows which both are on medium, on 1280x800 and get 30+fps

    8500mGT OC'ed to 650/1425/490 (DDR2)
    3DMark06 Score:5058
    Drivers: 169.04

Note: Shaders is the most important performance-determining setting. Try it on medium, you will see a 10-20fps boost.

I would rather have a playable game than a beautiful game, and it's not like it kills all graphics, it still looks amazing.

Yeah, unfortunately for me, I can't play at the 14-18 fps you're showing, 'cuz that's just normal view. I don't know about everyone else, but I zoom a lot with my weapons to pick people off instead of rushing in, and as soon as you zoom in, your frame rate goes down the crapper.

Like I used to run at an average of 21-26 fps with my settings, and as soon as I zoom in, it cuts to 10-13. Can't do that. If anyone knows any solutions, I'd be happy to hear 'em.

Disable HitBlur in the cfg and Blur all together.

You don't want to disable hit blur or motion blur, you want to disable depth of field, which makes things around you blur when you focus on something in the distance (basically blurring the area around your sight when you zoom). A good example of this is when in Call of Duty 4 you are prone in grass and you look down your sight.

EDIT: This is directed @ ViperYourMother and in contrast to Magnus72's suggestion.

    @ Magnus72 and imrlybord7:
I was pretty sure it was depth of field, 'cuz the blur effect is on when I'm not zoomed in, and my fps is pretty constant. Now that I think about it, depth of field really only is used during zoom, so hopefully that fixes it.

To OP, are you OCing your 8600??

I suggest doing it, you can significantly improve performance.

-edit: nevermind I see you did :D

It actually feels pretty smooth at 18-21 FPS though. But when I actually want to get through the whole demo, I play on medium.

8700m GT is the same as a 8600m GT...just higher clocks therefor a few more FPS. Screenshots can be made to look as pretty or as ugly on just about any card.

The 8700M GT performs like the desktop 8600GT.
The 8800M GTS performs like 8600GT SLI & the 8800M GTX like the 8800GTS 640.

    Just look for that dude.

    Thanks

Beatsiz you have my Crysis video on Youtube, played on 8700m GT in SLI at 1680x1050 :)

When I get my new XPS M1730 with the 8800m GTX in SLI I will definitely make more videos and take screenshots. Now I have sent my M1730 back with the 8700m GT to get the new one with 8800m GTX in SLI instead.

I'm assuming TC means something like Original poster, so I guess you're talking to me. I'm using 169.09 drivers.

Sorry, used to gamespot lingo. TC means topic creator. Thanks.

EDIT: Are you running vista or xp? Should've asked that, because I'm running xp 32 bit. And if it is xp 32 bit, where can I download the drivers?

There is a sticky in this section regarding on how to update your video card drivers in XP/Vista.

    Cheers.
