Here's the latest fruition of my .cfg files tweaking. I usually run the game @ 1920x1200 and get 30-35 fps average at these settings. Running it @ 1280x960 for the Fraps recording session @ half resolution (for the 480p).
This is simply to show that you CAN play this game at very nice settings without the need of a powerful Desktop or any of the new Super i7 Laptops that are coming out right now. All you need is a good tweaking of the .cfg files (I have 2 config.cfg and autoexec.cfg for different priorities) to balance what the game actually has to process as opposed to what you want to or need to see. A lot of the features of this game actually make it look worse believe it or not (for example I hate Bloom and other Bloom-like effects, as they imo make the textures look less detailed) and the right combination of effects makes the game arguably look better than stock settings. Check it out.

The level of detail is quite nice, but you have what looks like no shaders. Shaders are the thing in Crysis which makes it look truly good, with the sun rays, and the brightness. What you have there doesn't look all that realistic, because the shadows generated doesn't match the level of brightness of the game, and it looks constantly overcast, it has no sunlight.
You take a look at the following screenshot and you'll see what I mean.
Well, that's actually Crysis Warhead, but you get the idea. What you are running is essentially that, but without the shaders. -
Thanks goodness for maximum armor there huh?
- Also I don't remember this level. Is this a mod?

------sorry double post error

I think I like my style well enough, because all the other nice parts of the game are still intact. Anyway to get smooth performance on this machine something's got to be sacrificed and I found the shaders to be the less important part of it

Can you explain which files to modify and how to get rid of bloom. I like shaders, lighting, but never ever liked bloom, always the first thing I disable in any game.
-
Yea, it's a very fun custom map I downloaded, it's called "Bay of Bones". I like this better than the main campaign, lol! There are other awesome maps like "The Resort" etc. around too. Google it and you should find it.
-edit: I'll hook you up, send me a p.m. and I'll see what I can do to give you the file that edits the configurations -
LOL! ? I'm dumb! I re-enabled the shaders to =4 and I lost no fps! Still get 28 fps on "the resort map" at 1920x1200.
-
LOL! Why did I ever disable shading? Here is a pic with it back on and I didn't lose any fps, still @ 28-30ish.
Look better to you? -

For some reason, the game looks worse for me with shaders set on high. Every color is washed out. With shaders set at medium the whole game is colorful and pretty.
-
Is that high or medium shaders? It doesn't look quite bright enough for Very High.
-
Now that I think about it, I think that's exactly why I found the shaders ugly and disabled 'em. Hmm.
And yes, that's high, not very high. -
I no longer use configs because I get very uneven performance or they look good then bad etc etc.
I keep 1920x1080 res, all medium with high textures and something else.. I think shaders and that's it. Looks good and I get very even performance between 25 and 30fps. With some configs I get over 60fps then drops to 30 and I hate such massive drops.
Plus I like playing on native res. -
You mind explaining how to turn off bloom in crysis?
-
go to your cryisis main directory and create a system.txs file
write: "r_hdrlevel=0" or "r_hdrlevel=1" try both.
Rename the system.txs to system.cfg
that's it

I re-enabled shaders at lvl 4 in the config, and undid some of the changes I had made in the last couple of days. Also installed a custom ToD mod and it looks even more awesome
I'm suprised that I'm still running 30-35 fps with the shaders on at that level. And I bumped the resolution back up to 1920x1200.

People dream about having laptops as nice as our man. I get the same performance if not better and my processor and graphics card never get hot. We got really lucky with the 7805u's with 1920 by 1200 screens.
-
Yea mate, we sure did. Also great call on the T9900, it is the perfect companion for the powerful 9800m GTS
-
Wow, that looks really pretty.
-
Here's another one I just made to show the increased texture shading. I think my .cfg is almost finished, going to do the last few tests and re-touches.
-
I've finished my Configuration, and If you'd like to try it out it's here http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=60904
Enjoy
Crysis on my p7805u with Very High custom settings= Super Smooth gameplay on single 9800m Gts 1gb
