Try overclocking your video card. I got about 50-75% better framerates with very high in Crysis when I overclock my 8800 GT. At least try it.

I have no clue how to overclock or undervolt, I read all the guides but I still don't get it so it is pointless, but I should be running smoother anyway with out overclocking.

Here is a video I made, me playing Crysis Demo, the sound is a bit off because FRAPS sometimes does that, and I know I suck at the game lol.

All settings MEDIUM, resolution 1280x800, AA off.

The most frame rate I got during this video was 12...

Try the latest drivers first. Then run Crysis with the -dx9 switch, third the demo does not run as good as the full game fully patched.

Here's something you guys might want to know. I just installed, and played crysis on one of my server PC's, it's got a 3.2GHz P4, 7600GT 256mb BFG, 2GB ocz pc6400, Foxconn Nforce 610i mobo. With windows XP 2003 server edition 32 bit.

I played the first and second levels of crysis while checking the FPS with fraps, lowest was 5FPS, avg was around 23FPS, and max was 79fps, with high physics, and all other medium settings. with all high settings it averaged 13fps. Resolution was 1280x720. no tweaks at all, this is a fresh install of the game with patch 1.21

I find this interesting because most of you have 8600m GT cards running on vista and are experiencing worse framerates on lower settings than this, yet last I checked the 8600m GT was in some cases more than twice as fast as the 7600GT, and I'm pretty sure that a Pentium 4 is definately not as good as these new core 2 duo's everyone has.

As much as we'd all love to love vista, it's just terrible in almost every aspect, I was one of those people who went out and purchased a retail boxed copy of windows Vista ultimate, and used it for nearly a year before going back to XP. Those who are still saying that the performance difference between XP and vista is almost non-existant now, obviously haven't used XP in a long time, I suggest you just try it.

Well, generaly that might be true but there are so many PC rigs out there with different driver, hardware and software configs. Me, for example, I have a Vista/XP dualboot and a crappy IGP but with some games I get BETTER performance with Vista. IL-2 1946 and Rome Total War runs with better FPS in Vista than in Xp for ME. In MY case I think it´s a matter of better optimized drivers in Vista for my soddy IGP though ;)

Yea, I've noticed that with some games, there's only a difference of +/- 1FPS in vista compared to XP, but crysis really stands out. I've tested crysis on 6 different computers, and in every one XP ran about 40% better than vista in crysis. I've only tested an 8800GT, HD 3650, 8600GT, 8700m GT, 7600GT, and an X1600 pro. never an IGP or anything like that, but they all run better on XP playing crysis by a huge amount.

I notched the graphics done from Very High to High, added 4xAA in it's place.

Still jaggy in parts, but FPS is a lot more stable, but **** I miss object motion blur!~~

I'm curious: under Vista, did you play the game in DX9 or DX10 mode?

I wonder about this, if playing on High on DX10 gives you worse performance than on High DX9!

    both.

DX10 on vista runs a few fps worse than DX9, the difference isn't really that big, only about 2-4fps

Both are on very high settings with a custom config. so the settings on all my tests are exactly the same, regaurdless of OS or API.
