Hey everyone, with my laptop coming in soon I am trying to find PC games to get. I've already decided on BF:BC 2 from a recommendation on this forum and for only $20 it seems like a steal. So I was wondering if I should get Crysis or Crysis 2, is one of them better. Do people still play online on Crysis 1 anymore? I've never played a sci-fi shooter before but it looks really cool! I decided on not getting any RPG or MMO with Skyrim, guild wars 2, and STWOR all around the corner. All games that I've been waiting for forever. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

Ignore the negative feedback from users. People were crying and moaning initially because Crysis 2 graphics was on par with Crysis 1 graphics. Since the release of the DX11 update for Crysis 2, I haven't heard any more complaints.

Personally, I would tell you to go Crysis 2; especially if you want to see the potential of your 6990m; not to mentioned I really enjoyed it. If you however want to know the "story" behind crysis, I would recommend you get BOTH and also get Crysis Warhead.

However, wait around and check EA and Amazon and you'll be able to find Crysis 2 for around $30.

    Good luck

the complaints with Crysis 2 were far more than mere graphics. It was with the game itself.

At any rate, both Crysis are good, even if quite different one from the other.

Crysis 2 by a mile! In my opinion the best of the Crysis series. And it has quite a nice story and setting.

Both games look great on my tv, but I like crysis 2 way more than crysis 1. The game play is very different than crysis 1 and although they've moved away from the sandbox style gameplay, its a much better story.

alright cool I'll probably get Crysis 2, what settings do you think my 6990m will be able to handle hopefully high? I saw some videos online and the city looks amazing graphically!

I'd recommend Crysis 1 and Crysis: Warhead. Crysis 2 is such a letdown to the series IMO, such as with Devil May Cry 2 to the franchise. Its not only the graphics, but dumbing down of the gameplay. Its not a garbage game, but something I'd pay $10 for, max.

People pay attention to the story in FPS? ; )

I don't know if you can use the US EA Origin Store, but if you can, BF:BC2 is going for $4.99 as well as the Vietnam expansion. I'm just throwing it out there since you mentioned it going for $20.

    Only until Today

IMO Crysis 1 is so far ahead of Crysis 2 that it is pathetic.

Crysis 1 has better graphics, gameplay, scalability, gameplay length, modibility -- their are so many mods that you could play this game for 5 years and not play them all, sandbox vs. linear, MUCH better physics and dynamic environments.

To me it's a pretty obvious choice. Just sayin'.

i also have to agree some people who have replied to this thread, Crysis 2 was a blast from start to finish, i enjoyed Crysis as well but felt the story lost its way a little in the second half, dragging it out for the sake of it, where as with Crysis 2 it took me a few hours to get into it, then i was caught hook, line and sinker, it felt the right length for me, not to short and not to long, one of those games that (for myself at least) made me go, ohh boy, Crysis 3...yes please

I always enjoy sandbox style freedom so my vote goes to Crysis 1 + Warhead.

But Crysis 2 aint that bad, unless you tried Crysis 1 first.
And with the additions of Dx11 and higher resolution textures it finally stopped looking like a Xbox 360 port and more like a game worthy of our superior hardware.
Crysis 2 multiplayer still sucks though.

i have to agree, i usually play most fps for the muiltiplayer gameplay, but this was one of those games that made me glad of the single player campaign, because the mp is terrible......

Really the online is bad? I was looking for games that would keep me busy for 2-3 months until Skyrim comes out and I'm guessing single player isn't that long..?

Just take a look at the MyCrysis 2 forum.
I never seen so much hate on the MP part of a game.
If you want a long multiplayer experience i vote BF:BC2.

Well I'm planning on getting BF:BC2 for sure, any other game suggestions for long term experience. I like almost any genre and am open to suggestions of new ones.

yeah, stay clear of crysis 2 for the mp aspects, i loved bfbc2 mp it was fun, if you like civ building/RTS games then ive been plowing lots of time into Total war Shogun 2, its been a blast, i haven't spend any time with the mp aspect, but the single player modes are very good fun, if you want a very good rpg then have a look at the Witcher 2 it will run a dream on your machine, HERE is a review i wrote of the game.

Crysis 2 multiplayer was small environments, 50% halo and 50% call of duty.

It was not what was expected after Crysis 1. I wouldn't go so far as to say that Crysis 2 was worse overall, but it certainly failed to make itself stand out by becoming more like CoD/Halo rather than evolving what was going on with Crysis 1, with huge environments and a slower pace.

I was thinking about getting the Witcher 2 but the M rating seems really bad. I'm really into RPG's too, I can't wait for Skyrim.

the Witcher 2 is a mature game, it is also more dark and hmmm how to explain it, more shady or gray rather that the simply black and white, it is a fantastic game, and i highly rate it as one of the best if not the best game of the year to date....

im not sure i would like the game as much without the mature nature, it sort of 'made' the game if that makes sense, the game did a fabulous job of taking away the clear cut black and white i think it would lose some of its appeal if it didn't put that across with the mature nature being removed.

The game is worth it IMO even with the M stuff on it. Just close your eyes when you see boobies. :D

Also here is a Crysis 2 MOD called BlackFire.

I agree, they consolized the second iteration and a lot of the open world mechanics and complexity of the first were discarded for a more Call of Duty style game; much more linearity and much less choice. Even the perks and classes in multiplayer are identical to CoD!

Crysis 2 was garbage literally. Think of it this way, BF2 to CoDMW2. The change is significant. Crysis 2's gameplay was the biggest letdown. No more 'MAXIMUM STRENGTH' The thing is, Crysis 1 made you feel like you were stronger then an average human, but Crysis 2, felt like CoD...crap.

That mod is...amazing! Might change my graphics thought about the game. However, that mod will only put Crysis2 at the stage of Crysis1. we need photo realistic goddammit!
And listen to this while you're playing Crysis 2.

I liked Crysis 2 waaaay much more than Crysis 1. I only wished it had a few more enemy types... maybe flying aliens like in the original and nanosuit mercs. I also miss the overpowered laser sights. Basically, I wish all of the good stuff from the original game was carried over.

Just finished Crysis 2 -- with the Maldo texture pack + Blackfire mod. This is the way the game should have looked from the onset for the PC user. It drastically improves the graphics and overall atmosphere of the game.

That said. The game is just too linear for my liking, it was an almost 'on rails' sci-fi COD clone (that is not a compliment). Overall the game just left me wanting to play the original Crysis --and download some great mods, even more.
