    I have a question: If I use the tweak for very high settings in Crysis do I see a performance gain or drop at other detail levels such as medium?

    I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask (if not just moved or delete it :D ). I’ve been playing Crysis for few days and I’m stuck.
    I’m at the alien place, Core. I keep on getting instant death without any attack at all. It happens randomly at any place in Core.
    I was hovering peacefully :) and all of the sudden no alien, no enemies at all, my hit circle (that red thing) lights up to a perfect circle (does it mean that I fell down or attacked from all directions?) and I’m dead.
    I tried using the trainer (I was desperate :p ), but still it doesn’t help.
    I tried to find info in crysis forum, some player mentioned instant death in other levels but nobody mention about instant death in Core.
    Anyone has the same experience? Is it a bug?

    thank you.. :eek:

    Ok So I was just curious what kinda performance I will get in DX9 mode so I run the game with DX9 enabled and I get like 4-5 fps when I get around 45-60fps in DX10. Why so?? maybe I m doing something wrong.

    Must be a driver bug or something.

    It is a problem with the physics engine. Try setting your physics to low, maybe that will take care of it. It's like a big container falling on you and killing you - except there is a bug so small things (like two rocks) touching you at the same time can AND WILL kill you. It is a bug, happened to me- i solved it in a simple way - AVOID ANYTHING THAT FLOATS! :)

    P.S. dont get stuck between walls (a rock and a wall) the geometry kills you. And dont' just float to walls, always be in the center of the tunnels. Use the cloak until the end cause the enemies are tough and they will punch you into a wall. It happened to me just a second after i quicksaved and the bug (physics) killed me. Had to load the last checkpoint. Don't know if that was fixed in any patch...

    SHADERS - very high
    PHYSICS - medium
    GAME EFFECTS - low
    TEXTURES - low
    WATER - very high
    SHADOWS - medium
    POST-PROCESSING - medium + custom
    VOLUMETRIC - medium

    Get around 20-30 fps, minimal was 10 fps and that was at the end of the game. Still playable and VERY BEAUTIFUL !

    check;

    well...I've been following this forum lately...I got Crysis a few days ago....after a lot of tests...I've discovered the game has 3 things that impact the performance very much.

    My videoboard is low-end, but I can run good games with good graphics...here...and the Crysis, with the 1.2 patch and the Xconfig 1.3 addon (this addon if you prefer) I can run Crysis, with these configurations:

    Object Details: Low Settings (Level of Details is a very incredible FPS killer, the environment is very detailed, with this setting on low you can get higher FPS).

    Shadow Details: Medium Settings (I don't need to explain that, shadows, everybody knows, is an FPS monster killer, but with the medium details they are good in visuals, try it.)

    Shader Details: Medium Settings (Shader, hehehe, unfortunately, is the soul of the game, but if you put this setting on high, the game gets extreme slowdowns, but on Low it gets very weird, without shadows and other effects, thus, try it on medium setting or higher depending on your graphics card, I think the medium setting is good for me.)

    Volumetric Effects: Low Settings (I don't mind clouds in the sky, I'm not used to looking at the sky frequently, hehehehe, so I put this setting Low, you can have more FPS without these clouds.)

    Texture Details: Medium Settings (Well, as I use the 800 x 600 resolution, the medium textures are ok for me, I can't see many differences between the medium and high settings, I don't know if using a higher resolutions changes texture quality.)

    The rest, including Motion Blur Effect, I put on High settings.

    terminus you're computer should be able to play Crysis at all HIGH 1680*1050 at about 35 or more FPS.

    So no worries.

    YOu can push even CCC LVL 5 at 1680 1050

    sweet! better than I expected, I was expecting like 1440x900 res. I have a question: on CCC lvl 5 are sunrays (very High setting) and rainbow water refraction (very high setting) visible?

    Hi, I have almost the exact same notebook config as you, but Crysis still suffers. What setup did you choose for Xconfig?

    I can play with shaders on medium, but everything else has to be low, and even that's just 20fps! Adding shadows brings everything to a crawl.

    Man, make sure if your Crysis has the 1.2 patch there, this patch has a lot of fixes, it can improves your FPS, and, well, with respect to the Xconfig, I've uninstalled this because I've noticed few lags and FPS reduction with this addon.

    Do this:

    Install the fresh Crysis installation;
    Afterwards install the 1.2 acumulative patch;
    Enter the game, put the resolution on 800 x 600 (I know, it will get ugly, but it's necessary);
    And finally put the configuration that I've posted before;

    I'm sure your game will get boost with this.

    PS.: Ohhhhhh...I had forgotten, I use the Vista DOX Optimized Driver 182.05 for my GF8400, it helps a little.

    And I use these 3D configurations on my Nvidia Control Panel:

    Antialiasing (gamma correction, mode, setting, transparency) = off
    Error Reporting, Exension Limit = off
    Force Mipmaps = None
    Texture Filtering - Anisotropic Sample Optimization = On
    Texture Filtering - Negative LOD Bias = Allow
    Texture Filtering - Quality = Quality
    Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization = On
    Threaded Optimizations = Auto
    Triple Buffering = Off
    VSync = Off

    I hope help you on your trouble.
