while intalling crysis , i noticed it gave me the message " updating directx" in a popup box.. is this normal? i thoiught vista was already dx 10 the latest version. i got my file from NZONE. is that safe? Anyone else saw this box?

yea it will update some dx10 files that are needed to be updated

Calm down... there's nothing wrong with it all installer run in that way. If the installer detect you got newer ver of DirectX, it woun't install and vice versa.

Virtually every game does this. And the few that don't, should do it.

Every few months, Microsoft updates some utility libraries for DirectX, and games are *supposed* to install the version they use. Some games ask you if you want to install/update directx, but the sensible thing is to just install it without asking. If you already have the files, nothing happens, and if you don't have them, you need them. -
