Hi, I am new to these forums and gaming on pc too. Bear with me.
I followed Ural's custom settings for the xps m1730 for crysis, but I'm having a lot of trouble.
First off, the guide for installing forceware drivers on SLI is confusing to me.
I don't know where to get the modded INF files, i would think laptop2videogo and find the 175.63 drivers.
I get 15fps max and 4 fps dips in crysis.
Specs: XPS M1730 4gb RAM
core 2 duo 2.5ghz
Dual SLI 8700mgt
When I play crysis the ram is used up by 70% with other apps, I turned off all the useless ones.
I hope to play crysis at a decent fps of 25-30 on very high, if someone would help me with Ural's installation.

it's impossible to play crysis with "25-30 on very high", unless you lower your resolution to 1280x800 or lower. what OS you using? 32bit or 64bit?
for xp 32bit: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/175series/17563/nv4_disp.inf
for vista 32bit: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/infs/175series/17563_vista/nvac.inf -
Oh yeah, i forgot OS.
Vista Home Premium 32bit
Ural's thread and youtube vid shows 30+ FPS on 3rd lowest resolution(i forgot what it is in the 1200's x 1000's)
His custom config is pretty good too, after messing around with medium and high I can pull off 50FPS on some parts and I dip to 25fps in battles, which is annoying.
If someone can explain a little bit more in depth for installing forceware and deleting old drivers + help with drive sweeper, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for the Inf file too =D -
i think this is what you need: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=202449

Yeah, thats the problem. I get lost right about the last few steps:
"We have to uninstall our current drivers. (( Start : Control Panel : Click Classic View on the left : Device Manager : Display Adapters : Right Click the top 7950GTX : Click uninstall driver : Check in "Delete the software software for this device". )) After this is done, restart your computer, then we want to run driver sweeper."
The one above to be specific. The part where it says "delete the software software.." I dont get it, I dont have that option. -
i decided not to go the route of getting laptop2go drivers and modded inf files, instead i got the latest nvidia forceware for this computer (167.51). i am getting about 35-45 fps and the game looks good enough for me. except for 1 or 2 hangups and glitches, with the latest 1.21 update installed, you should have no problem at all playing the game. -
hmm...after I changed my drivers to your forceware I cant even play crysis now.
Black screen--> Windows Error: "Crysis has stopped working"
Why does this game have to be so complicated... -

Atleast SLI works on the game, I have a killer desktop I just built with dual 4850's and it only use 1 of the two cards no matter what I do. -
in SLI configuration select Enable SLI.
then in Manage 3D settings find the feature called "multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration" and select "single display performance mode"
then in "SLI performance mode" select "force split-frame rendering".
after this, you should be all set to play. -
ahh that should solve a lot of problems...hopefully.
If this doesnt work I give up, I cant stand playing crysis with crappy graphics, its like playing counterstrike lol.
Thanks for everyones help -
EDIT: OMg laptop lag!!
Sorry for double post
EDIT2: I just tried out that fix, and I have all settings very high except shader quality which is at medium and i get 25-30 fps steady on 1280x720 res
OUTSTANDING, I also used Ursal's config because my original one....got replaced with empty folders? SO im stuck with custom config and so far so good.
Should help a lot of 8700mgt xps m1730 owners lol/
EDIT3: Im beginning to have fps problems again after half an hour of playing...Oh wells lol -
change ur settings to 1440 and set everything on medium, you should get very smooth gameplay. if you want any better with high frame rates....ud need better hardware. -
guys please help me, I had the same problem as mister zero and I just did the thing where you set the screen to to a single display mode and force split frame rendering but CRYSIS DOES THE SAME THING.
I load it and i am at the first cinema of the game and it is working smoothly for about 10 seconds until the game crashes and the "driver stops responding." The driver only starts responding after the game is exited and everything...I have the driver 175.32 and i have the same system as Mister Zero except I have 32 bit. vista.
Someone please help me. -
first of all, make a checklist:
#1 - do you have the latest patches installed for Crysis ? you should have installed the 1.21 update, followed by the 1.21 hotfix.
#2 - go into your install/remove programs in control panel, and remove the nvidia forceware you have installed. after reboot, you will see windows installing new video drivers. let it do it's thing. when it's all done, reinstall your latest forceware (175.32 for 32bit, 167.51 for 64bit).
#3 - after installation, configure your SLI as per previous posts.
#4 - microsoft has released an update to directx, go here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en, download and install.
#5 - on the desktop icon for crysis, right-click and say properties. in the shortcut tab, you will see the target with parentheses (""). after the parentheses, put in a single space followed by the following text: -dx9
after all is said and done, you should be able to run crysis using 1440 res with all medium settings and it will run smooth.
if you continue to have problems, go here: http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_1.html
hope this helps -
ok im going to do all this and get back to you
thank you very much for replying -
lol, thanks for the help, I guess I cant play with 20-30 fps.
I dont know if its me or not, but when its at 25 fps it feels like a slideshow lol.
when i walk into a house/hut on the island i get 45-55 fps and I like that lol.
When i set everything to low I get slideshow fps!! which is weird.
Im going to reinstall, because I still have Ural's Custom config on the files.
I wonder how long it would take me to fix myself into just playing crysis =P
EDIT: I reinstalled everything and deleted rivatuner. Went into menus for settings and turn on everything high except shaders, objects, and shadows(all 3 on medium) and res is at 1440x900
In-game, its so smooth, I hardly have stutters(only stutters in big enviroment e.g. Level Contact: When your above enemy camp) FPS is around 30-40 dips in 25 and no lower.
Good job lol -
Here you have a new config for Crysis Warhead this time but it might help you in some other aspects (turn off PowerMizer, uninstall drivers and install new ones): http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=301768.
Of course you can play on medium but why play on medium while this game on the XPS 1730 with 8700s on SLI is playable with all effects?
