Hey guys, I decided to make this thread instead of a single post that would be lost in the huge Crysis threads. I'm having this issue right now (In windows xp, issue not present in Vista) when Crysis reads my battery status and wireless strength the game skips every 5 seconds and wont stop. This includes the in-game menu, cinematics, and actual gameplay. The same thing happened in the Beta but I did not the know the cause untill now. I figured if there was a way to "turn off" this feature. What I did to "turn it off" was I disconnected my battery and turned off my wireless and low and behold those meters at the top right were gone and my game did not lag anymore. Wohoo. This fixed the skipping problem not only in the Single-player version but in the mp beta aswell. The only problem now is that I have to do this everytime I want to play crysis (same thing will happen on retail version, i bet) and it's getting to be a drag. Now I am asking if anyone knows how to disable this "feature" because its more of a pain than a commodity.

What I think is going on is that every 5 seconds this feature survey's the laptop thus slowing the game down to a halt for a second. As to why this only happens in Windows Xp and not Vista is out of my knowledge. All I know is that I get much better performance (ignoring the skipping) in XP than I ever would in Vista.

In addition, I remember I seeing a video over at Intel.com that showcased an API that allowed game developers to use such tools to access mobile laptop's acpi settings and grab data values (like battery life, wireless signal, etc.). It's pretty cool that the Crytek team implemented this but this is getting to be a real pain and causing more harm than good.
Edit: I found the video here
    http://softwarecommunity.intel.com/videos/home.aspx?fn=1040
It uses an example where it's implemented in Half Life 2 similarly to how it's implemented in Crysis.

Find out the name of the program or service and block it by running msconfig, then it wont start unless you manually run it or turn it back to auto start.

As far as I know it's something that's implemented into the game and not a seperate process. When I unplug my battery and disable my wireless and open up the game's console it continuously repeats some error message saying about something not found.

Oh the game monitors them? I thought you had monitoring software/programs causing the game to have problems.

Never heard of a game like that before. Dont see why it would be doing that but alas I have not d/led the demo or anything yet.

Don't really have experience about the issue, but if it's a feature in the game, maby one of the console/.cfg file commands in this list can disable it: http://forums.tweakguides.com/showpost.php?p=75415&postcount=339
Of course, I don't know which one. :(

I noticed there's a "IntelLaptopGaming.dll" file in the Bin32 folder. I remove it and when I try to run crysis it says this file is missing and to reinstall the game. Now I must find a way to remove disable this by means of using the console.

if thats the .dll causing this then the way to remove it without game noticing would be to find which line of code access that dll and remove that line.

BUMP. ANyone know how I could contact Crytek? I tried looking for an email of some sort but it's only for their corporate office. I googled IntelLaptopGaming.dll and it is indeed related to the battery/wireless meter. You can enable/disable it through the sdk before implementing it into whatever but its already implemented into the game.

Yes, my son's Toshiba P105-S9722 does the same thing with the retail version. The battery removal and network switch off does cure it though. Gonna have to do some more research I see.
