so yesterday I was playing crysis, and I was on the level, where I'm in zero gravity, inside the cave. while I was playing that level, I started to feel dizzy and felt like throwing up. and after I stopped playing, I had a headache.
Same thing happens when I play Prey.
Every other game I can play fine like COD4, NFS series, or any racing games.
I think its referred to as motion sickness, not sure though, but anyone else here experience it? if so, did you find out how to avoid it? instead of not playing lol.
thanks

Haha... it's usual for me.. if you like that game so much, try stepping into it rather than playing like 3 hours straight.. take the day off when u r feeling like puking already.. Happens even more frequent if i "watch" other ppl play fps.
-
FSX actually made me loose my depth perception one day. Everything seemed 20ft away from me when it was really only a matter of a few feet.
-
3 Hrs causes u sickness? ... CS players practice upto 6-8 hrs during tournaments..
Hey BUT .. u reduce your gaming hours...spend time outside..exercise..make good physique -
I can't even stand 3d platform, they make me dizzy as well... must be bad design -
feeling dizzy and nausea is very common when play games that use very wide angle, or point of view... usually standard FPS use about 90*...
happened to me when play games like: the original half-life, original medal of honor, original call of duty, brothers in arms, condemned: criminal origin etc ...
my advice is: play no more than 20 minutes at a time. if feel those syndromes, stop playing immediately and look outside for couple minutes. -
There's a warning about this in...pretty much every game manual/box
-
TomTom has pointed out the problem; certain games use aspect ratios that cause nausia in certain users. If it bothers you, I would suggest trying to return it despite the store's policy.
-
ROFL ,american games and symptoms....sheesh...
I would never believe it unless I knew that some friends of mine have this issue...weird stuff. Lay off the coffeine. -
If I had that problem I would just keep a bucket next to my gaming chair
-
are you sure it's not because of slow frame rates? :/
-
Try looking up some codes for the command line that change the field of view...
It helped me alot in ET:W
But in Crysis the motion blur made me a bit sick too, also the frame rates but thats not really it I think
I think it is also because that level has some weird coded things I think... like everything is mapped out but rendered at different heights... idk how to explain... like as if you could shoot it but the bullets would still go through it for another 30% as if its just floating above the digital mesh thing... gaah its hard to explain -
It's the nature of the game unfortunately, take the advice from the others earlier and don't play for hours at a time. Unfortunately there's no other way about it since changing point of view isn't a solution that will definitely work in the OP situation.

I doubt frame rate has anything do with the "motion sickness". This problem is quite common, try google search you will get tons of people who have experienced such problems:
http://www.google.com/search?q=half...avclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enUS254US255
If you feel sick to the point that you are about to puke, for god's sake, stop playing. Like previously suggested, return the game if you can or uninstall it and never touch it... move on... there are tons of other games that won't make you sick.
If you have to finish the game, then like what I said... play 20 minutes (at max) per day... even if you don't feel anything yet...
That's how I finished Condemned: Criminal Origin.... took a while to finish the game, but hey... at least I didn't puke my guts out... -
First time this happen to me was real long time ago when first FPS started to roll out. Game 'Mafia' totally messed me up even playing it for the first time during 10 mins of game play.
Ever since then, I stopped playing FPS games. Saved myself few $Ks because I didn't needed to upgrade my computer that often. RTS was more managable because less moving object on the screen I suppose.
Anyway, tried FPS when I upgraded my machine last year July/2007. Think it was Bioshock or Halo 2 or something else. Don't have the problem anymore. But spent over 4k on new gear including this FX laptop :| -
I remember the epilepsy warnings they put on some of my older games, the majority used to laugh at them but bear in mind those old warnings were placed in the manuals and game boxes for a reason.
Same thing applies here, though I don't think there's a warning for the minority of afflicted gamers. -
I think it's more than just about playing for over X hours....
I think it has to do with our gaming life-style as a whole (no sports, spending too much time in front of the computer screen..... watching too much !@#$... etc etc)
Otherwise I'd say it's just problem with your body in general, exposed to epilepsy like what Harleyquin07 said -
thanks for all the responses. I rarely play games, I mean the only game i finished till ever was COD4. i play games maybe once or twice a month. and I'm physically active and very fit. I do exercise every day (workout).
and the headaches or feeling like throwing up is just minor. I don't get sick or anything. I feel better after 20-30mins.
I was playing Crysis very well, until the level with zero gravity. I managed to finish that level, and now i was playing it without any problems.
The game that I can't play at all, or only play for 20mins straight is prey. The Zero Gravity level and Prey are very similar to each other. -
I feel dizzy too while playing some of the FPS like FEAR. However I don't feel sick when I'm playing CS or NFS series.
Why is that? -
I have never had any headaches or motion sickness while playing any 3D games or FPS games, BUT....
I can't even look at this game for upto 2 minutes or I seriously start to feel faint and hallucinate.

And this game was made in like the 70's or 80s. I mean WTF SRSLY. -
I get a headache during Crysis when I pump half a clip of AK47 rounds into a run-of-the-mill Korean grunt and he still isn't dead.
-
kind of suck for people with motion sickness but really enjoy FPS games.
-
Some of the stuff you can attempt to prevent it are:
1. Try enabling or disabling vertical sync.
2. Try to lower graphic settings.
3. Sometimes even a fps boost can work wonders to keep that nausea away. -
my ex girlfriend used to feel like she was gona have a seizure when she played condemned.
