    Download this program:
    http://www.tweakguides.com/files/FPSCompare_v05_beta.zip
Set one screen to 15fps, another to 35fps, then switch between them (in full screen mode). If you didn't notice any difference "in smoothness", then I rest my case...dude ;) .

did i say that i don't notice the difference? it's not about the difference. obviously, it does exist, but it's not about that....for some people playing around 20 fps is ok. everybody has their own standards.

The level of FPS that seems "smooth" to most people is game dependent, so using that program means little or nothing.

    That's why I ask for:
Then, with those "in game numbers" I can decide if they high enough for my "smoothness" perception.

That's fine, and I always ask for FRAPS shots and/or benchmarks as well. But it's misleading to state a definite value for what is considered "smooth", as it depends on both the player and the game. So don't come down on someone who says gameplay was "smooth" to them, as they may be being absolutely honest.

Having to have used an integrated graphics card and 256 MB of RAM, 15 FPS will be a welcome step up :D

So I've come in and looked at this topic a few times, almost posted a few times as well. I think the OP had a point, but at the same time that he didn't take his point far enough.

I'll start with how I answer questions. There is a large thread here going on where you can post your specs, and ask what'll run on it, including more exact information on what settings. I've answered a few things in there, and as far as I'm concerned I did my duty. I gave them my opinion on things that weren't certain, and I gave them my point of view on how something would run. I had no screen shots, I only gave general FPSes, I had scores or stats or anything else.

Was that wrong? Was I misinforming because I didn't go into deep detail? I don't think I was, in fact I think giving them all of that would have been too much.

See, it's not just about misinformation, it's about using the right form at the right time. So if the thread was something that wasn't meant to be huge on going story with new people posting in it all the time, and instead was "Will BF2 run on my ATi x200?" It's here where all the true, deep, complete solid stuff comes in. When you're shopping, if you are relying on just a forum, or even multiple forums, you are going to end up lacking the information you truly need.

It's not just misinformation, which may not even be seen as misinformation some times, but also an issue of research understanding. Before you even come to a forum and begin reading all this stuff, you need to do some basic research yourself. Look up the companies, look up the specs; if it's about a specific game, go find a review and check up on what the developers say you need for it. Yes, well I went off on a tangent I think.

My original point, is that misinformation exists, but is often just a combination of different factors. In the case of how video games run, deal with Perspective, Point of View, and other person by person factors. Which of course comes down to the whole "What is playable?" argument. You can't discuss misinformation in this sort of topic, without breaking down into the more personal level of what someone finds playable.

I was going to keep going, but I think I said too much already -_-
