Yesterday, I tried to add the resolution 1024x600 to my Y470. According to Google, I should have just been able to go into the nVidia control panel and add it, but the option is missing from Optimus drivers, it seems. I tried to add it to the Intel control panel, where the option for custom resolutions does exist, and it tells me that the settings have been applied, but I cannot select the resolution in Windows, even when running on the IGP only.

Surely us Optimus users aren't simply prohibited from using custom resolutions? Am I just missing something, or are there registry hacks I can do like on my AMD laptop?

It won't be in the nVIDIA control panel as the nVIDIA GPU is usually not connected to the laptop screen in Optimus (it might be used for HDMI though). I guess you will have to try figure something out on the Intel side..

I can set a custom resolution in the Intel control panel, but Windows and games won't recognize it.

Well, I solved my own problem and the solution was painfully obvious. I had put my laptop to sleep numerous times in between different attempts, but I never actually restarted. I did so, the custom resolution was recognized, and it works perfectly.
