I'm looking for a good way to force custom resolutions in games. Particularly the resolution of 1600x900 in Crysis 2. I tried editing the game.cfg and changing the
r_Width and r_Height accordingly to 1600 and 900, also I made the file read only so that Crysis 2 wouldn't be able to automatically change it but it still didn't work. Maybe there is some software that lets me force resolution?

Right click desktop, choose screen resolution, click 'advanced settings', on the 'adapter' tab click 'List All Modes'. If the resolution doesn't show up there you can't do it in full screen. However for nVidia you should be able to set a custom resolution in the display panel, save it then it should show up.

Try adding this to the end of the Crysis shortcut -Vidmode 1600,900
