It seems like you need at least a release window timing for an "official" thread. In the meantime this title holds most of my hope for happy gaming in the (I'm hopeful) not too distant future so I figured those of like mind might want a thread where we can all talk about the latest rumors, hopes, fears, etc.
I imagine most who clicked this thread have already read the E3 coverage of the live play demo and watched the trailer so rather than discuss that I'll assume knowledge of it and just say that my biggest concern is the multi-player component they are working on. I really hate loot crates and DLC that should be part of a game for which I have already paid full price. I'd hate to see this game and this developer come to that; it would be a real bummer for me.

E3 demo was running at 4K 30 FPS on an i7-8700K and GTX 1080 Ti: https://www.dsogaming.com/news/cybe...tel-i7-8700-with-an-nvidia-geforce-gtx1080ti/
(Digital Foundry confirmed the resolution and frame rate):
Unless an immense amount of optimization/downgradation takes place, I expect it to be a cross-gen game coming out in the 2020 time frame, perhaps a PS5/Scarlett launch title? (As well as 1080p 30 FPS on PS4 Pro and 1440p 30 FPS on XB1X).Last edited: Jun 18, 2018 -

1080p, or rather 1920*1200 is fine by me. -

IMO 30 FPS in a first-person or mouse and keyboard game is just, not enjoyable. Cyberpunk belongs in the immersive sim genre, but there's nothing immersive about a sluggish, I mean cinematic, frame rate. -

My #1 Question?
How is Cyberpunk 2077 going to replace that totally enjoyable "Clippity cloppity" from my horse when traveling?
It's gonna be tough to replace that ever present reassuringly soothing sound.
Cyberpunk 2077? IDK, it's cool and all, but there is just something... missing...

This game looks good but the only drawback is the game is supposed to be a first person shooter. Hopefully it changes.
-
EDIT: But I wouldn't call it a shooter... it's a first person RPG.
This is a pretty good interview with Mike Pondsmith, the father of Cyberpunk 2020 which is the tabletop RPG that 2077 is based on, and a person from CDPR. Man I could listen to Pondsmith all day...

Personally I don't see any problem with that, since if it would become TPP, it means they would have to make it a cover shooter, and those are kinda lame... -

Since we aren't getting a new Deus Ex anytime soon (Square Enix gets the finger), this will have to do.

The i5 will be fine unless you want 120fps on all low settings

Welcome to the Official Cyberpunk 2077 thread on NotebookReview!
https://www.cyberpunk.net/en
Please share your comments, suggestions and news about the upcoming FP-RPG named :Cyberpunk 2077 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2077), developed by CD Projekt Red who created the well known and crafted Witcher franchise.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a fictional city called "Night City" between SFO and LA. It exists in an alternate universe where by the year 2020 (Original Pen and Paper RPG designed by Mike Pondsmith; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020) corporates gain more control and autonomy than the United States federal goverment leading to cities governed by private companies. Like many famous predecessors such Ghost in the shell, Cowboy bepop, Blade runner, iRobot, Cyberpunk universe shares a lot of concepts, aesthetics and provide a bleak outlook on human civilization, capitalism, crime, poverty, human condition, technological advancement, AI, military, healthcare and the entanglement of cybernetics.
Lets discuss about the Red engine, plot, philosophy, Easter-eggs, modding, hardware required to run the game, and exciting news related to Cyberpunk development and its life after release.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -
First Official teaser for the game was published in 2013, 6 years back!
This teaser came before the last Witcher 3 Wild Hunt DLC, Blood and Wine that was teased in 2016
As such CDPR might have got the IP but probably Cyberpunk was mostly active within brainstorming and discussion phase of development back in 2013. E3 2018 marked a turning point as they released their world premiere trailer for the Cyberpunk 2077 game:
Trailer Frame-Frame analysis:
Possible draw-distance and environment view:

What's been confirmed:
The demo graphics was the same as that of the E3 trailer! Although not photorealistic, the world-build, draw distance, textures, NPC details, and possible complicated RPG universe created by CDPR reveal a truly next-generation game. The E3 trailer can be expected to mark a monumental shift in the gaming industry akin to id software's doom or Valve's Half-life. Although the graphics seemed next-gen, specs for the machine that ran the demo:
CPU: Intel i7-8700K @ 3.70 GHz
MB: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-I GAMING
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
GPU: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512 GB M.2 PCIe
PSU: Corsair SF600 600W
PLEASE NOTE: These are not min/recommended specs. They are not official yet.
This would mean that the game could theoretically be a cross-platform cross-gen game and its settings and subsequent optimization (downgrading) will allow it to run on present PC and consoles. The E3 demo using the single 1080ti ran on a large 4k screen at native 4k capped at 30FPS. this would mean current 1070 can easily run at 1440p and 1060@1080p. Maybe by lowering some settings the game should run smoothly. Due to high vertical maps/mega-buildings (unlike Witcher3's flat map), and its surface map that is bigger than TW3, theoretically the game would require high RAM requirements and GPU performance. Also if NPC details and AI behavior is true to actual demo/reviews we can consider a lot of CPU stress as well.
So for all your notebook-gaming enthusiasts on the Notebook-review forum, if you have a high-end gaming laptop with a 1060 or above in terms of pushing graphic performance and fidelity - you should be able to run the game just fine @1440p or below, without punishing your PC and cooling requirements albeit few modifications to settings (trade-off).Last edited: Jun 24, 2018hfm likes this. -
CDPR also showed a alpha-stage in-development closed-door demo to E3 Journalists and visitors perhaps to reduce unnecessary public related distractions. Although the audio was leaked, footage was not. Here are some videos on in-depth demo analysis:

Its alright to have 2 threads. I will be updating this thread with news.

There's literally a 4 page thread already going. sorry but yours is redundant, unnecessary.
I also hate "hype train" NeoGAF threads. -
I also kind of hate the ones who have hatred towards certain set of words that does not harm anything. Thanks again.

Same here. This game is shaping up to be new golden standards for future games. CDPR is becoming the new Valve
, although CDPR knows the number 3.
E3 trailer was a feat. No microtransactions, free DLC. They are changing the corrupt rules of the game. Kudos to them. I wish more will follow.
The new red engine seems more optimized as ever. I am very curious is to how they will optimize what gets graphically processed for the first person view in order to increase performance. I heard that they might not buffer the world which is not in view, saving performance.JRE84 likes this. -
No flying cars unfortunately. Devs have confirmed you can use them for travelling in certain missions though.
I understand the vertical-world immersion would probably break if you fly very fast or the graphics load would be too much but I would have preferred if they had Mass-transit systems with metro trains and flying vans (like in 5th element). They show the protagonist riding the metro in the trailer so hopefully that's usable in-game. -
CDPR dev gives an official explanation regarding what was seen in the E3 trailer:
"Night City holds just as many stories as it does citizens, and almost every scene in the E3 2018 trailer tells a story of its own. The E3 2018 trailer is a result of hard work of the entire development team at CD PROJEKT RED and is based on concept art done over the years. Every scene is rendered in-engine and offers a great glimpse into the lives of people in Night City."
"Night City is an independent megacity in the Free State of California, run by corporations. While geographically still in the territory of United States of America, it falls completely outside of California and the US law. Over the years, it’s been fractured by corporation conflicts and gang wars. Those caught in-between, desperately try to survive, as riots and violence take over the city," explains the devs in their first episode talking about how the game itself became such a powerhouse for crime.
The second episode delves into a world of AI and drones and how they intermingle with society. This is especially prevalent with the protagonist V, as they have upgradeable wearable tech to make them even more of a badass.
"In 2077, society is vastly dependent on drones and robotics. From simple camera drones, able to both record and transmit live feed, to big clunky creatures, warehouse machinery and training bots. It’s not unusual for people to see huge automated trash collectors or robots sweeping the streets. Either mass produced by corporations or put together from stolen trashed pieces of tech, robotics serve a huge role in both economics sectors and are an everyday addition to the life of people in Night City."

Cyberpunk demo that was shown behind close doors, is confirmed to be pre-alpha release footage. Also CDPR has stated that their core focus is Single-player. However, there will be a multiplayer release later but right now its just on the drawing board (research phase). Predictably, Fall 2019 release is unlikely based on the news. Likely Fall 2020 or even more, depending on translation of all story design, functional world building for districts and quality control.

One thing is for sure - I don't think this is a cross-gen game as per E3. This is a next gen game if it is beyond 2020. -
The 1080ti powering the closed door demo was not showing a 4k output. The resolution is confirmed to be 1080p by CDPR (post #55). This means if a 1080ti was showing a 1080p video capped at 30fps with all that detail as described by reviews with occasional glitches - this is not going to be a cross-gen game. It has to be next gen. * looking at my savings

, and game's release does not coincide with nvidia 1200gtx debut.
But with right amount of downgraded optimization it should easily work at low-medium graphical settings on next gen as per their ambitions. -

There wasn't even a public demo shown yet, but they are already lying!!!
I'll just play other games, have a pint, and wait for this all to blow over.
I will reserve my judgment until it's further in development. -
Im just interested how they are keeping their shareholders happy, bcos its already been 4-5y in development.Last edited: Jun 28, 2018killkenny1 likes this. -
Honestly I feel that this 1st person because of a more immersive experience

I'm much more a 3rd person type, but I have no beef with the 1st person decision. I grew up with games like Deus Ex and System Shock after all.

Some more information about the First-Person mechanic and population density within the game. Interview with Mike Pondsmith and Cyperbuk Animation director gives some perspectives:
https://wccftech.com/cyberpunk-2077-world-density-1st-person-view/
"Cyberpunk 2077 world density is best perceived from a 1st person view, rather than third: when a voice is heard in the game, the first person view doesn’t allow the player to see where it comes from, leaving them with the choice of engaging in the event or conversation or just ignore it, like in real life. With a third person view, this is lost, as players already know who spoke.
Situational awareness is too high with 3rd person view, and this isn’t good for Cyberpunk 2077’s dense world, as the team doesn’t want players to have the ability to see all threats. He makes an additional example, saying that players have to interact with the world as soldiers, and not generals, comparing 3rd person view to a strategic view and 1st person as a tactical one."
Generally all that makes sense with any game and as long as immersion is not broken and I don't think it should be a problem. As ambitious as this game is trying to be, based on non-cut-scene dynamic/fluid conversations, no leading screen etc, immersion is certainly going to be higher than the games I have played before. -
CDPR had always treated their customers well. That whole "downgrade" thing was blown out of proportion. Witcher 3 was a masterful game.
