Hello I tried to use DDU on a fresh install of windows 8.1 and seem to have run into a problem. As the program was booting into safemode, it just sits on a black backlit screen. I can't seem to boot into the bios settings because from power off with prema mod it says its resuming from hibernation, so can't select any of the options. it seems to be stuck trying to get into safemode. I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to fix this.

I ended up having to reformat. I stumbled upon the fact that safemode must be "enabled" in windows 8.1. DDU must force its way in regardless. Live and learn.

when your laptop says it's resuming from hibernation, just unplug the battery and power cord so you can get a cold boot.

I can not believe I am having this issue again! I needed to boot into safemode and am stuck again. My laptop doesn't allow me to access any prema settings due to resuming from hibernation. I can pull the battery pull ram change disks for the main drive and I still can not access the boot settings. And I always boot into a black screen in safemode. No desktop no options for anything. I am going to try to pull my cmos to try and get into the boot options to then boot from a USB my windows install. Any more help would be greatly appreciated! I would like to have my prema bios settings in such a way it doesn't leave me stranded like this. I am positive I have it set to the recommended defaults.

I find it very suspect that I am having this problem using everything out of the box. No changes have been made to anything.

Well resetting the cmos got me back into the bios settings to boot from my usb. Tried a few different options, refreshing did very much delete all my files. I think I am just going back to seven. Trying to fix this seems a handful of people have had this problem.

If you're running Prema BIOS which you are, just turn off all hibernation/sleep features in the BIOS. I would suggest trying that before you go to 7.

I set up a new install of 8.1 and still can't seem to get into safe mode though. I was able to before the fresh installation of my ssd prompting this initial thread. If I could figure it out in a timely manner id still be on it. I tried a few different posted fixes to enable safe mode in windows 8.1. Booting up 7 it works with out issue immediately.
