Every one else as excited as i am![]()

I was excited until i heard they were charging $20 for the mod...paying 45$ for half life 2 should be enough money, but to turn around and charge another 20 for nothing more than a mod is rediculous, they wont be getting my money.
-
yeah, ive never played the original but i like cs:source.
i just saw the videos on ign and it looks fun...
i am looking forward to bashing heads with a shovel

DOD is not mod. It used to be a mod until Valve bought it and now it is a full game by itself.
-
DOD is a mod, saying its not a mod just because they now have their own label and you can buy the game indivisualy doesnt mean much, it still runs off steam and is part of Valve. There is no single player, its multi only, running off steam(HL2) servers, therefor it IS a mod.
-
not only is dod s not a mod it is now the first showcase for valves HDR technology, show me another mod that includes brand new technology as advanced as HDR.
you can't call a valve product that works with another valve product a mod. and it is entirely worth the money unless you a poor scraglly bastard
$17 is too much? **** off.
-
this is fun...i think its better then counter strike source.
it seems kind of buggy, though -
Valve always charges $20 for expansion. If you have issues with paying $20 for a download, buy the retail version instead if they're doing that.

Hey, did anyone try the new High Dynamic Range lighting? That's really cool - I ran through a few levels on HL2 on my desktop's 9800XT - awesome. Haven't tried CS:S yet but I am anticipating that it will be cool as well.
-
yeah HDR is very very nice, but i need to get my 1GB stick of ram before i can really run it at a good framerate, although it is very playable as is, DOD:S is my favorite game right now and HL2 is the best singleplayer game i have played in a long time, i can't wait for Lost Coast now!
-
I wanna try this out. I have been playing BF2 for quite some time and enjoy still but I just want to see what DOD:S is all about ( i remember playing it back in the BETA days before the sprint meter was added )

Same over here. I play CS:S source a lot, that's a really fun game. My friends all rave about the orig. DoD - I'm going to buy if not just to play them.
I have very little experience with BF2 - I think I might take a trip to Best Buy and get it. I would be interested to try it out.
Everybody needs a little variety! -
The original DoD was the first PC game I ever played (well... FPS) I *ehm* bought is seperately in a store for $20 when it first came out in a box. Considering this is based on much better graphics for the same price I'm going to go download steam right now just to pre-download it!
Question: Do you need to own HL2 to buy it? & can you pay on one account and download and play it on two computers or how does it work? -
I just bought it and its pretty good...but beware you need a good cpu/vid card to run it without bottoming out the fps ...i run between about 30-70 fps....they need to optimize the source engine in counter strike sourch and dod source....the fps are too low
my setup
radeon 9800
amd xp2400+ at 187*11= 2057mhz (prob = to a 2.8)
1gb geil ram -
i am not sure if you need to own hl2, because i already own hl2. however, steam goes by account, so you can play on as many computers as you want, just that you can only play at one computer at any given time.
-
You can just buy the bundle in stores that comes with CS:S, DOD:S, and HL2
M. This bundle does not come with HL2 and is about $40 if i remember correctly.
