Soul Cube him to death. Kill the demons that come out the pit to kill you to charge up the soul cube, then lob it at him. Repeat 3-4 times and done.

don't get close. Soon as the level start just start running around the pit away from him. kill anything that comes out the pit to get you, when soul cube is charged aim and throw. Takes 3-4 or up to 7-8 depending on difficulty.

    If you are really desparate:
    Ctrl+Alt+~ then type god

It won't be as satisfying beating him the old fashioned way but it works.

    Why Cheat you ask???

To save youre sanity , if there is a code error in youre game stopping you from killing the critter , you therefore cant win , use the cheat to verify the game works , then deactivate the cheat and go back and kill the oversize critter. enuff said

tHErEALIST (allready lost my mind , why should you)

Personally, I thought Resurrection of Evil was actually much better than Doom III. The Super Shotgun is a godsend, and there are much fewer monster closets. There's also a lot more variety visually between the levels. It's pretty much win-win.

I also recommend Quake IV, by the way, which I enjoyed a lot. It's much more action oriented.

As for Cyberdemon at the end of Doom III, I didn't have much trouble with him, I just followed a pretty simple pattern:

    1. Remember, Q is your hotkey to toggle into the Soul Cube and then back to your regular weapon.
    2. Before you go in, switch your weapon to the rocket launcher.
    3. Start doing laps in the opposite direction of the Cyberdemon and blow up his jobbers with the rocket launcher until the Soul Cube screams "USE US!"
    4. Hit Q to swap to the Soul Cube, look at the Cyberdemon, and fire. Remember, it homes.
    5. Lather, rinse, repeat. The key is just to stay the heck away from him. The Soul Cube can find him on its own. ;)
