I heard that Valve will have to change the name from DOTA 2 due to some kind of copyright with Blizzard. Is this true? And if so does anyone know what the name will be? Thanks.

I haven't heard anything of the sort...and I'm not sure how Blizzard can hold a copyright on the name of a mod created by players.
-
yeah dota is just the name of a map created by players, I don't think they have squat to do with it... (maybe they will claim it was made by their map editor)

another potential problem is that defense of the ancients (and by extension, the acronym DOTA) - might be a reference to something from the warcraft universe. Not sure.
-
there is a lawsuit about this right now. As of right now valve doesn't have to do anything.
-
It probably has to do with Blizzard's DOTA, which is Starcraft DOTA. Maybe they want it for future reference.
Anyway, DOTA is a name known to all and in a worst case they'll have to change the "A" part, which could be anything as long as the acronym still stands. They already marketed most of the game and they already have almost everyone's attention.
Some DOTA players don't know DOTA is a Warcraft 3 map.
Some DOTA players don't even know what DOTA stands for.
