First game I joined I got auto disconnected because steam didnt auto update my DOTA to the latest version. But damn went into practice mode and this game looks 100 times better than it does on streams... so smooth and playable. I mean that and DOTA nostalgia, proper balancing... I'm drooling right now.

If someone gets me a key, I'll babysit them (or do whatever you want) during the entire time of the beta.
I'll play hard carry/support/ganker anything just get me a key!!! -
Both are competitive PvP games best player wins. You cant say its easier or harder i guess. -

I was introduced to LOL from some friends that originally played DOTA. In less than a year I have played almost 1000 games and love it. So I was excited when they started talking about a valve developed sequel to the game that inspired LOL. But I'm afraid that when DOTA 2 is released it will dominated by elitists and I won't have fun. I may still try it out just don't want to be cursed at for 45 mins by some guy who's played the original DOTA every day for the last 6 years.
-
The best HoN player actually left for league of legends (Chu) and he climbed to the top of the solo ladder.
Here's a pic for reference, ignore the trollish LOL it isn't my pic.
Now, I'm not trying to bash LoL but he came on the scene using mid-tier heroes and got all the way up there, beating pros and well known players on the way. His comments on LoL are mean but true. If you want, you can look for them on dotallyrad.com.
Now the problems with LoL: A free blink? Really? (flash). It costs 2100 gold in HoN or DOTA and you need to earn it. A free blink allows you to sit in a lane the entire game and farm away(which apparently is 99% of LoL Games) even without vision. If you do that in HoN, or in DOTA 2, you'll get buried because players will come and gank you, and without your free blink, the game becomes a lot faster pace, and instead of 5 kills in the first 20-25 minutes a la League of Legends, there's 15+ in HoN & Dota.
I mean if you like it, go ahead and keep playing. But don't get upset when you realize you're not good at dota 2I would suggest installing HON (it is free to play) and getting acquainted with the gameplay style.
I find that I've been the best player in the DOTA 2 games that I've played so far, and I'm only an 1850 HON player :| -
So it should be pretty easy to transition from HON to Dota2? I was about an 1800 HON player last time I played.
-
When presented with LoL and HoN I sticked to the traditional Dota. Can't wait for Dota 2
@GamingACU
Yea, the gameplay is very similar, you shouldn't have too much trouble adjusting to dota. -
-
Reconnects are easy, servers are pretty stable except for maybe on patch, no delay at all though. Valve has this one in the bag. -
Did they bring back some of the amazing original heroes not included in HON (such as Clinkz)? -
And transition from HON to Dota2 is really easy, just play 1 practice game against AI to familiarize with the items and the flow and there you have it, go play match making!
-
The skill pool doesn't exist in the beta - for somewhat obvious reasons XP, acheivements and skill ratings are locked at 0. So matchmaking in the beta is pretty hit or miss random, it represents what day 1 will look like when the game is released, but not what it will be like at the end of release week even.

I have 2 invites to give out on Steam. Any takers?
Kind of bittersweet...just got it and my ethernet cable broke, stuck with crappy in and out wireless. -
Baka wants an invite o/ If possible
-
inv me plz, i would really appreciate it
-
Been a huge fan/player of DoTA since the original warcraft III mod. Would love an invite if possible
-
I also would love an invite.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
hit me if you got extrasssss plz
-
Would love to have a beta key too
-
Same here, would like a beta key... been playing dota since 2006!
-
I have never played dota, but ive always been a big fans of RTS games. This definitely seems like it would be an interesting game for me to try out. Looks like warcraft 3 but with you only controlling your hero.
-
Does anyone have a beta key they'd be willing to share with me? I play both HoN and LoL and I really want to try Dota2 as well!
-
Managed to get in from a friend!
So far it's like a mix between HoN and LoL. The game mechanics are like HoN but it's slower paced, sorta cartoony and "zoomed in" like LoL.
It feels a lot easier to farm too, for some reason. -
Baka congratulates R3d to make it in
-
It's my birthday! Beta key please!
-
Do they have an official release date for this game?
-
Been playing the original DOTA for 5+ years and got a dota2 beta key and its about as awesome as I expected, and it will only get better ^_^
-
DC87, do you happen to have an extra key you could spare...?
-
Me and one of my friends got our keys so they're probably sending more.
Now my whole clan is on dota 2.
------------
both of us shared our extra 2 keys to our clanmates.. so no more keys... sorry. -
Any spare keys Thatoe?
---Oops saw your edited message.. Anyways goodluck playing that awesome game!
-
One week ago bought a key for me for $30, bought another 2 for more $40. Sold one for $20 and another for Skyrim.
$10 profit, lol.
I began playing dota in 2005 (I played before in ROC, but it was just another custom map) and I quit in 2009, after this only some casual pub plays to see the new things.
Beautiful game, some little bugs, update coming every week, a lot of fun despite of some "typical" Dota players. And it's still in beta.
Also, +10.000 players in beta right now and playdota.com giving 120 keys every day (each key gives you 2 invites, so it's basically 360 new players every day joining).
ValveFrog doing an awesome job.
Don't forget about my Episode 3.
-
I just got a key in my inbox today. see you all on the field.
-
I am so glad one of my good friends introduced me to this game, its a great time killer and it gets pretty intense out there
-
Baka is still lacking a key
Baka is sad
-
Guys by any chance one of you lucky fellas invite us to beta??
-
still keyless
-
I don't seem to have extra keys to give out our I would
-
Just got my key!
Wahoo !! Happy Hunnukah to me! -
I just got an invite! wow
-
Baka congratulates above people
-Awaits for own key at dark corner- -
I want a key as well! Any of you folks who got the invite care to share one of your two extra ones? PM if you can.
Oh btw Dota 6.73 is out!!! And of course it's Christmas themed
tons of new stuff... tried out a few of the new heroes and they feel pretty
rigged haha but they buffed pretty much every hero in the game so it should balance out ... we'll have to wait and see GG ALL -

So excited for this. I would do anything for a key. Anyone lucky enough to get invited and would be generous enough to give a me, I would be very grateful!
-
Baka thinks the game pace is slowwwww ._.
But then again Baka had been playing HoN and LoL for quite a bit. Dota 2 feels slower than LoL -
its all based on your the players playstyle. i play aggressive in both dota/hon and when i lane with a non retarded player who listens we almost always get fb at/before lvl 3.
-
doesn't seem slow to me. It's just like the original DoTA, and it's epic.
-
I'LL add you when I get home. My username is the same one as here
-
Baka is verrrrrry bad ._. But Baka can maybe try to play if omarness does not mind a feeder
-
I'm stoked for any valve game and dota is no exception. Somebody hook it up with a beta key haha
