Ok I know OC'ing on a laptop can get pretty scary. But what I am curious on, is when is oc'ing considered "safe". I can OC my GO7400 to CPU @ 541mhz, Mem @ 900mhz. Which nets me a 3dmark05 of 2306 (non OC I got an even 2k). Now the thing that struck me as odd, was I expected the heat on the GPU to go up quite a bit with the OC. Well it didn't. During the 3dmark and after playing some games the highest I saw it get was 49c, and generally it would stay around 44-45c. Now this is very similar to the temps @ stock speeds.
I guess my question is, is it safe to "OC" this card, considering the temps @ OC speeds and non OC speeds are very close to the same?

That sounds safe. The main thing is, let it run overnight or so on ATITool while it's scanning for artifacts. If it doesn't get any after 8hrs, then you're good.
-
Oh does ATITool work with Nvidia cards too?
-
Not for overclocking purposes but to test an overclock it should be ok. But nVidia has nTune which I believe does the same thing.

I had my 7400Go O/Ced (albeit somewhat milder compared to yours - 2282 3DMark05 @ 528/860 MHz ) pretty much the entire time I had it, about 10 months, with a very small temp spike from normal (about 2-3 degrees Celcius). You just have to check your temps on a regular basis (especially after gaming), and watch out for crashes and artifacts. If you're not having any problems after a week or so I'd say you're pretty stable. If at all possible though I'd see if I could live with a lower OC.
Looking back now I remember my dv8000t's 7400 Go was a workhorse, not a single problem. Plus you don't see any complaints on these boards or anywhere else. It's a solid little gamer... -
Actually, atitool works for overclocking nVidia cards as well, and it's what has given me the highest clocks.
DV6000T, GO7400, should I OC?
