The Geforce 8 Series will probably come out in a few months while the X2xxx series will probably come out early next year.

Given the extremely high power requirements of DX10 GPUs, I doubt they will make it to notebooks anytime soon. I'd say that DX10 is not worth waiting for right now. A DirectX 9 card should last a while.

ATI's next-generation chips aren't even DX10 BTW - they're DX9. Game developers will not be giving up DX9 right away, I imagine there will be support for a long time. DirectX 10 requires all new hardware.

DX10 for laptops will be here by the middle of 2007 since the Santa Rosa platform launches in the second quarter with the new DX10 Intel GMA 3000 in their Crestline chipset.

I'd expect both Nvidia and ATI to have DX10 parts for notebooks by then, maybe not the very high-end parts, since as Chaz said, the power consumption for the initial DX10 GPUs from both companies are even higher than the current flagships.

Nvidia is releasing the G80 soon, so they might be out with DX10 GPUs for notebooks before 2007. ATI's DX10 R600 isn't expected to be released till December so I wouldn't bet on any DX10 mobile solutions from them till 2007.

WOW, that sure is very cool. I guess it is another technology to go with the new Core Duo 2 CPUs and possibly the new version of the Santa Rosa platfrom.

I also find GDDR4 RAM interesting....

only solution would be a better graphics card, the 7200 is a weak card, going out of your native resolution will result in sub par image quality, and with your card, your forced to low res, and usually lower IQ settings

Not unless the DX10 game supports DX9 shaders and such. Im sure the first few DX10 games will also be DX9 compatable. It will just look alot better with a DX10 card.

Half-Life 2 still supports DX7, so I don't think that the major games will need DX10 for while.
