Are there any free applications I could download that run a DX10 graphics test? like 3dmark etc, no points needed just some DX10 rendering so i can test the fps on this zepto.

    Cheers.

I believe the World In Conflict Open Beta has a directx 10 bench built in (as well as a directx 9 one). Call of Juarez should also have one. In both cases it seems that the actual difference in quality has been minute, but the difference in frames have been staggering because of various reasons (Poor drivers according to some).

(Edit: I can now see that there might be a problem with there not being enough beta keys for WiC, and I'm not sure if the demo of Call of Juarez has a bench. Perhaps using FRAPS along with one of the Directx 10 demos is a possible way to overcome this)

Company of Heroes I think is DX10 and they have a free demo download. Lost Planet is another.

They're large downloads though (it took me several hours to get them all).

Trust me DX10 isnt as developed as DX9 so the optimization is very low. if you do run some sort of bench mark expect evrey thing to run at least 50-60% slower. just to give u an example. I ran a 2 benchmarks. one with DX10 and one with DX9 on World in Conflict.

    I have a Nvidia 8600 GT with DDr2 and 475/400 clocks.

On DX9 i run the everything on high AA x2 and AF x2 and get roughly 12-14 fps avrage on the benchmark.

On DX10 with the same quality i get 2 fps avrage AND i run out of GFX memory (lacking about 100 mb)

The benchmark is much more demanding than the game but give u a good idea at how your game will run when theres 3 bombstrikes along with some tank v. heli fighting involved.
