Well, so far I am beyond amazed at the performance of this 8800m GTS, but the temps are scaring me. Idle, they state a very cool 48-50C, but under load, they are reaching around 90C! Is this too hot for the 8800m, or is this about standard?

Pretty much every laptop component nowdays is rated to easily and comfortably over long periods of time (talking years worth here) at 100 C.

So while this is a higher temperature, as long as your fans are doing their job and you aren't gaming in a sauna I wouldn't worry about it. ;)

    Hope this helps! :D

Yeah seems normal to me. Check out the cooling guide for advice for a cooler laptop. I recommend a cooling pad and blowing out your fans with compressed air. You would be surprised how much dust actually collects in those fans.

I thought about the fans, but I've barely had the system for 24 hours. I did notice that the PC wasn't elevated enough to let the fans blow the air out, so I used the ol' "DVD Case" trick, and hopefully it will help.

Thanks guys, and Tim, diggin' the Dwight Avatar. Easily the best Verite' comedy on television.

Yeah The Office is a great show. :D

Anyways back on topic. lol A notebook cooler might help prop up your laptop so the fans are more exposed. Plus it will help blow cool air or suck air away from your laptop.

Another thing to remember is that laptops run hotter in the summer since the ambient room temperature is normally hotter as well. Your laptop will run cooler in the spring, fall and winter though. Just something to remember, but I think your temperatures will be fine for now.

Well, after you guys mentioned the fans I propped it up. Now load temps are 65C. I'm semi-retarded...

I actually read through that, and that is some great info. After seeing that Zalmanac (I think) cooler, I'm very interested! I have bookmarked the Cooling Section, and thank you guys for creating that.

Just played AoC for an hour after putting the DVD cases under my battery... max temp 63C. (As opposed to 85C after 20 minutes)

I feel ashamed I even asked that question after realizing my "cooling solution" was originally covering the vents!
