Having a few problems with this one. It seems that when i start it up it freaks out at the main menu. Text is enlarged all over and cut arond the screen. So i decided to get the latest patch and i thought it was fixed. However when i tried to start the game i kept getting green flashes and when i started to actually play the background started to disappear and reappear and its basically unplayable. Any ideas on how to fix this?

    I have an XPS M1530: Dual Core 2 2ghz processor, 8600GT and 2gb RAM. Vista -32bit

I recently update my drivers from the 169 to the v173.90 dont know if that has anything to do with it.

If I remember correctly this game has seriously problems running properly on Vista, have you tried changing the compatibility mode on the .exe file to XP SP2?

Yeah. Tried most of the other compatibilties and so far nothing has worked. If it doesnt work no the end of the world didnt pay a great deal for it.

I just checked the iexbeta webpage and it says some users can get Dark Messiah to work under Vista, it's hit and miss though so a browse of the official forums might help.

I'm actually playing through this one now since I have a computer FINALLY able to run it. I had very similar problems (in fact they sound exactly the same) but I was able to finally get it to work and it's pretty awesome game.

To the best of my memory I remember getting corruption after installing and updating both patches (I believe there are 2 and you have to install them in order). When the screen crapped out on me I hit the windows key to go to the desktop, let the desktop pop in, went back to the game and it finally game in. I set the video settings to total max values, 14*9, and now it fires up nicely every time.

Again I'm not 100% sure on this since it was about a week ago I installed it and had to do a silly little dance to get it to run but now all is well for me.

I was lucky enough to have zero problems with this game so my entire singleplayer experience was amazing.

I hope they make a sequel or expansion pack based on the new & improved Source engine after they're done with the 360 version
