I was really hoping this game would be good. Based on screens and videos it looked like it would be fun. I'm sure the enemy design had me intrigued as well. I was sure the game was going to look amazing.

Now that it's out, every site I've read seems to think it's very mediocre, with the RPG elements being either ignored or unecessary. That's kind of a bummer. Yet, on these same sites, the reader reviews are pretty high. Usually above 8.5/10. I wonder if the gamers themselves, who aren't sitting around trying to judge it, are just having fun with it ratehr than those who have to review it. Or if a lot of the reader reviews were based on the demo.

So, has anyone here played the game? What do you think? Is there really no point in building skills when every enemy other than bosses is killed instantly with a crate on the head, a toss into some spikes or a nudge off a cliff?

the demo was way fun and i think it deffinatly has great sword fighting in it.... its not an awkward thing to do like in oblivion as well as the powers are fun and the graphics are amazing.

I've got the full game. (Haven't had much time to play it yet though)
It's kinda cool. I like it better than Oblivion (it's more focused and linear, which can be a good thing. In Oblivion I just felt I was wandering around at random in a singleplayer-MMORPG).

Decent fun, lots of action, strong storyline (again compared to Oblivion). Took me maybe 30 minutes from I started out, and until I was defending a city from a cyclops :D

Load times are insane though, and it stutters a lot on some settings. (Setting texture detail to medium seems to fix it)

That's interesting Jalf, maybe I will try out the demo and finally buy the game myself. Would you recommend it to a person that really loves Oblivion?

I've read many postive reviews about it (between 80-90%), apparently the combat is excellent and far more satisfying then that of Oblivion.

I'm not an RPG fan though so it's unlikely I will try this out, but you never know...

I'd recommend it to someone who likes RPG's as well has Halflife 2.
It's as much a FPS/action game as a RPG, so I wouldn't recommend it to someone who *only* likes Oblivion.

The RPG aspects mostly consists of being able to spend skill points to improve your character, and having more story though, so being a "RPG-fan" isn't a requirement

Hmmm... I've read that the story is unsatisfying and the endings aren't all that great either.

I should download the demo and check it out when I get my new laptop. Right now I'm either online with my GF's mac or at the library.

The demo crashed on me twice, so I decided to stay clear of it. I've got NWN2 to hold me over now anyways.

You know, its funny that you say that Jalf, I played the demo and it DID remind me a lot of half life 2 gameplay -except with swords and arrows. I might buy it, but then again I need to get my hands on bf2142 before anything so I might hold off.

I am hoping to step up to my 8800GTX soon, it should come bundled free. :) Otherwise, I probably would by it. I really enjoyed the demo.

I'm having a lot of fun with the full version. I'm up to chapter 5 now, out of 9? I looks like it's going to be a short game :(

Performance wise it has been out standing on the 7900gs, no crashes yet but well let y'all know if it gets ugly.

Gotta go kill the dragon, the babe's screaming about dropping something on it...
