Got it pre-ordered and pre-downloaded, can't wait... Is it just me or are there a lot of games coming out right now?
-
yeah i face a 60 gig cap which suuuucks.
-
I was playing it at a friends house on his xbox... Its like Literally Zelda with gore and blood... dead serious
-
Is it hack and slash? similar to fable 1 and DMC for example? I love these types of games.

*Sigh!* Way, way too much!
i'm kind of stuck with OSX because we already invested so much in Macs at my office over the past several years. -
whoa, 12 core xeon, 4 ssds and 32 gigs of ram... nice lol. must have cost a fortune.
-

It only cost me my first and secondborn children (probably my soul, too, though it's already depreciated in value and not worth very much)
-
I've heard good things about Darksiders, but I do not like the design of the main character.
-
and sacred 2 was like 19 gb.

Incidentally, a Zero Punctuation review: The Escapist : Video Galleries : Zero Punctuation : Darksiders
Given that review, I'm very hesitant. Also given that this seems like an extremely console-y game, and controls are bound to be all faffed up in the port, I'm very hesitant. -

Don't take Yahtzee's reviews too seriously. -
I thought Yahtzee is a parody reviewer? Whose act has gotten a bit stale by the way. Who would take that seriously anyway?

i clocked this on 360 a while back. decent enough game. gameplay reminds me of the soulreaver series if anyone can remember that. I found it a nice mix of puzzle platformer and action (not as much action as something like NJ or DMC, but not as many puzzles as something like Tomb Raider). The story is pretty awesome as well... not quite as good as the prince of persia series but worth spending a late night or two to see what happens.
-
Think this is more like GOD of WAR but with different characters because KRATOS said so.Can't compare to GoW but still pretty cool.
-
His reviews are sincere, and the guy is brilliant when it comes to analyzing game design elements. Most of what he says regarding a game, I agree with (though not everything!). Of course, a game can still be a heck of a lot of fun in spite of the flaws he points out (he even points out in his Batman: AA review that anything he doesn't mention in a review is probably good).
I'm often able to pick out from his reviews which flaws I can put up with and which flaws will make a game not fun for me, so I do find his reviews helpful in deciding what games to play. -
i have darksiders on the PS3, but i never finished it cuz i let a friend borrow it. it's really a great game if u are a fan of zelda or god of war. it's pretty much a combination of the 2. it takes zelda's action RPG puzzle elements and combines that with a devil may cry or god of war-styled action/combos.

I see we are playing the GB wars here, well Star Wars the Force Unleash was 30gb!!! My internet max out at 450kb/s so I left it on all night for it to download.
Anyways, I heard this game was really good. Like a mix of God of War with Zelda. I would get it, but I think im going to wait for a steam sale for it. Too many other games to play first. -
forced unleashed was less than 10gb IIRC. definitely not 30gb though.
-
So far I like it, very fun and frantic. Some bad news though, not really any graphics options, only resolution settings that I can find. No FPS cap though, runs 45 FPS so far, but I didn't play for long. Looks like a good story, reminds me of Hexen, Hexen II and the unreleased Four Horseman of The Apocalypse.
Edit: Yeah, I am really liking this. Here are some pics for those interested.

28.9 GB sitting in my Steamapps\Star Wars The Force Unleashed directory as I type this.
-
That's the uncompressed installed file, WoW is 9gb in iso format, but 20+gb after installation. Sacred 2 was 19gb in compressed iso format...

When I first started watching his videos, I thought them an amusing novelty. While I still generally feel that way, my own impressions of games I've played that he's reviewed line up with his more often than not.
Back on topic, I've been interested in this game for a while but am not sure if I should get this on the PC or PS3. Does anyone who's played the PC version have a Radeon Mobility 5870? If so, how is performance? -
quite a lot of nice games out this week, there's the civ 5, king's bounty crossworlds, and darksider.
-
theres lots of DMC3 elements in this game , mainly in the sword combo
sword thrust , spins , etc etc
also souls...
heck .... i like it more than DMC4 , cuz Nero sucks and i just let my brother play that part . -
Read the reviews guys this game is a mixture of God of War, Zelda : Ocarina of Time, Portal (yes theirs a freaking portal gun), etc. If you like those games, get this one now. It is truly awesome, I played and nearly beat it on my 360 (which by the way had frame-rate and graphical issues). This is one of those games that blatantly steals from its predecessors but at the same time actually does them justice. Also, who can turn down some awesome Mark Hamil voice acting.

I might wait for this to come down in price before buying, especially since my backlog is already plenty long.
For those of you who want the game now and aren't opposed to Direct2Drive, you can get $5 off by using the coupon codes PAX or THANKYOU (but not both). If you're unfortunate enough to live in Illinois, you will have to pay sales tax, so there's that to keep in mind. Still, it comes out cheaper than buying on Steam or Amazon at the moment. -
Wow talk about BLOATWARE.
-
Lack of gfx options might be bad news for those with mid to lower range GPUs.
I wonder how this runs on a GT 330M, or Mobility 5650. -
I'm also waiting for this one to go down in price, but it does look reallllllly fun.
-
You are correct, but the compressed iso for SWFU is 16.1GB.
19GB for Sacred 2 is insane. How big is that, installed?
Empire Total War is 16.1GB in both formats, the downloaded install file from Steam, and the Steamapps uncompressed directory is the exact same size. -
I beat Darksiders on ym PS3, and will say it was a lot of fun. it is blatant in the games it rips ideas from, as the forementioned GoW, Zelda, and yes even Portal to a small degree. I thought it was even more blatant than Dante's Inferno. Don't get me wrong, it was a really good game, and I enjoyed it a lot, but it is not very original in the gameplay arena.
Then again, when something works as well as GoW, Zelda Ocarina, and Portal, why not use what works. This is not the first time this has happened, and in the process produced a good game.
I do doubt, however, that I will get this game, at least at this price point. Too many console ports already loaded on my system as is. Would be a great game to play on the 14 hour plane ride home, though. -
planes have outlets?
i honestly don't mind darksiders "ripping" those other games' playing styles. yes, it's been done many, many times over by other titles, but it's not very common that the end result is a game of this level. i enjoyed it because it incorporated all of those different elements into 1 really fun game. -
Boss battles are real hard, especially the first one.

If you fly business or first class they do, at least on planes that would be used for 14-hour flights. -
Not every game you play is going to reinvent the wheel, and quite frankly, thats fine by me. I personally play and love this game because of the art style brilliantly displayed from the mind of Joe Madureira, the action and the moderate depth of the game. Ive also played it a bit on the Xbox 360, and let me tell you that it looks way better on PC.
However, I dont like how they left the cutscenes untouched from the consoles, as they run at horrificly low resolution with equally low-res textures, which were the in-game graphics on the consoles. This makes the action in-game look remarkably better than the cutscenes. -
Second this, it's just good fun, and a surprisingly good story. The cut scenes are a bit jarring though, they look a lot worse than the game. Must be the console cut scenes? What is really bizarre is the FPS of the cut scenes, I have FRAPs running constantly and the cut scenes usually stay at 666.
Should I be worried?

awwwwwww danggg! *makes finger cross*
