Day - Z (ArmA 2 mod) an open world multiplayer combie survivor

I am downloading the mod and game. But I am currently in India for the summers and the internet here is painfully slow. I'll post my impressions once I am done downloading.
Anyone else here tried the game. Seems pretty cool. I am surprised no other dev has actually come up with such an idea to develop a game. There is a good possibility that something like this will become a full fledged game seeing how popular this mod is becoming.

 

Looks like a lot of fun, can't wait to try it.

I will probably buy Arma 2 and get this mod in the next few weeks.

Wow, thanks for the heads up! This looks pretty expansive. I can't wait till they implement vehicles...looks like all of the parts/fuel and stuff are dead weight until then.

Amazon has Arma2: Combined Ops on sale for $15 as a digital download.

 

a steam sale is probably right around the corner, too. just guessing. $15 on amazon is worth it. probably should have waited, I knew it had to be coming

 

There are vehicles already (cars,helicopters, bus,etc.), but you have to fix them first with the parts you find.

 

I've been playing this....or trying at least. It's really hard to get started. You start off with 3-4 mags for your pistol...in the middle of nowhere. When you finally get to a town to scavenge, all you find are too many zombies and not enough ammo. It's a great concept though.

 

Yea, I see that on the more recent videos. But the first video I watched was from the version before vehicles were working.

 

the mod creator is still working on getting basic stuff working, like vehicles ^

no effort is being spent right now on balance / usability tweaking. it's alpha and there is still a lot of work to do.

once all of the features are in place and functional, then you'll start seeing balance adjustments.

 

Just saw that Amazon has Arma 2: Combined Operations on sale this weekend half off. Just $14.99 digital download.

 

I wouldn't get the Amazon D-load on this one. Lots of people complaining on the forums (both Arma II and DayZ) about corrupted files and just trouble in general with getting it working.

I'm hoping steam has a matching sale soon.

 

Purchased yesterday, downloaded last night/this morning, installed, patched and played right away. No problems from Amazon for me.
