Hey guys, just wanted to see if anyone played DayZ mod on their 7970m cards and how well it performs.
Avg FPS on max setting? any issues?

Also would be great to get a few survives together to try and survive for longer than an hour :).

Hey - It actually runs horribly for me. I get around 25-30 fps on max settings (AA off; VSync off). However, I'm only seeing around 70 % GPU usage. Kind of a bummer, but every other game seems to be running fine (99 % usage and good FPS). Everyone's been reporting huge artifacts in the game lately, so I don't believe that's a card issue.

Dont stress too much, ARMA 2 got huge system requirements anyways.
Not sure if its heavier on the CPU or GPU though.

Both. That's why people do not install mods for Arma II, the mods make it even more insane

I don't know about the other guys but I play it on my laptop on highest settings, check Sig, and it runs flawless. Ill run fraps tonight if I remember and give u exact numbers. But I don't have any of the artifact problems or low fps. Love that game by the way.

I crank it most of the way up on my 675 at 1080p it does well. Only a couple of the settings give it a little trouble at their highest value. I leave it at default very high but bump the Res back to 1080 from the lower one it defaults to.

I get around 35-45 fps in DayZ at 1080p (both interface & 3D resolutions) and the 'very high' preset, but with AA off and vsync off.

I used to have the 7970m and tbh the 680m isn't really much different, I think it's just this game.

Not sure how much this helps, but I use the following startup parameters :
    -maxMem=2047 -maxVRAM=2047

Also, make sure you set video memory to 'default'. I'm pretty sure the 'very high' setting for video memory limits you to 512MB

My framerate seems low for my GPU, but having searched around a bit I can see that a lot of people are having low fps with this game - I guess there are some optimisation issues....

Probably. Definitely not stopping me from enjoying dayz, it looks good enough and is fast enough. It's the gameplay and atmosphere that are important.

Dayz FPS is very server dependant. On some servers my desktop gets 20-30FPS while others lovely 120fps. Really hit and miss

it's alpha... performance changes a lot (sometimes up, sometimes down) with new beta patches of the game (you have to use the beta patch version) and the alpha mod, and per server. Right now, you really need a high end server to get good performance.

Oh for sure. While I was waiting for my new laptop to arrive I was playing hours of Day-Z on my old Dell XPS M1530 with a mighty 8600m GT

I was at minimum settings and still only getting 15-20 fps!!

Hey, I use the 7970 in CrossFire and can say the fps is solid with the 7970 in a single card setup.

CrossFire is rather unstable but still gives me 60-80 fps everything max.
